Also the guys who work at our gas station since it's a small shop and it's always the same guys and they are excellent to me. |
Go away, Scrooge. |

Hell, I thought I was pretty thorough with my gift giving until this thread.

I guess they don't have the coupon books anymore. |
OP here: love the mcdonalds booklet idea. Thank you for sharing! Last year I did Starbucks but mcdonalds sounds a lot better. Btw we're from LA, not NYC and we normally gift our mailmen and ups worker too. We're a family of consumers: we have a lot more trash than I'd like for us to have, we order a lot online. The thread wasn't intended to say that everyone should gift these extra individuals, just wondering if you do, how you do it! Give what you want to people you love and/or appreciate and if you so choose, Scrooge away (and embrace it)! Smile and let's not snark on a Saturday.

No, I'm not cheap. Tipping is reserved for people who make low wages. This is like the tip jar at Starbucks or the ice cream shop: WTF? |
|
If it is 3 guys, we give them $20 bucks each. Mail lady too.
(Yes, I am from NY but I did not know that was NY-specific. Even if it is, I won't stop the nice gesture because all the cheapos here think it is weird. Hasn't it ever occurred to you guys to think of the people that surround you and help you all year, and to do something nice for them at Christmas?) |
Because Starbucks employees are just rolling in dough, right?
|
No but the gift card is better because they can stick it in their wallets or pocket. |
And you don't think garbage men making $120 a day is low wages. Okay, whatever. |
It's a wonderful gesture that's why we give what we can. I might throw in a homemade pie this year with the $10 each cards. Gotta make pies anyway. What's one more? Merry Christmas, Happy Holidays to all!!!
