I was 240 pounds when I started and did fine. Most offer a trial period. Just go.

Thank you so much for the encouragement! And thanks 13:23! I'll have to work up the courage to go

I did a boot camp exercise class and GAINED weight! Tough exercise first thing in the morning really stimulated my appetite apparently.

Not everyone gains weight, and many benefit from it. I would never be discouraged from trying ANY type of exercise program just because someone didn't benefit from it. What didn't work for you for whatever reason doesn't translate to not working for others. Your appetite may not mirror others.

I don't understand anyone that thinks they will lose weight when they eat a lot more, just because they exercise. I get that it's prevalent, but it's dumb and defies common sense. I also think it's silly to encourage people to worry MORE about diet. Diet is key, but SO IS EXERCISE. A balance between the two is ideal. I can easily tell when someone lost weight by diet alone vs exercising and dieting. And being smaller but out of shape is useless in my opinion. Also, cardiovascular exercise is for much more than how you look.

Yep, you ate too much and gained weight. Some appetites go into overdrive after exercise and others don't. Depends on the individual.

My appetite decreases significantly when I exercise. I can eat two meals a day and I'm satisfied. On days I don't exercise, it's a struggle to stick to 3 meals and a healthy snack.

Bump!

Anyone know of anything like this in Alexandria? Preferably near or along the waterfront?

I did this and while I didn't lose weight I lost a TON in inches. I just couldn't go once it got cold, though, as I was lazy and wanted to be in my warm bed. Was great in the summer though to see the sun rise every day.
