Minute Rice- good or bad.

Minute rice? Ick. We like those Uncle Bens 90-second rice packets. Anything less than 90 seconds is just disgusting

I was going to make the same suggestion. I always have the brown and jasmine rice in my freezer.

Have you actually tasted it? I'd rather omit rice from my meal than eat this stuff. It really is awful.

No, I have never tasted Minute Rice in my whole entire life.

What a stupid question.

Yep - since I found the brown rice, I haven't bothered making it since. It's really good!

I like minute rice (brown). I always have it in our home for some "emergency" or for when I used to work.

Nowadays, I rarely use it because I usually cook enough for 3 servings (for each of us) at a time in my rice cooker. Use some that same day and freeze the rest divided in two different containers - each container is enough for one meal for the whole family (as a small side of course).

Also, you don't need a rice cooker - rice is one of the easiest things to make and where I am from, people do it everyday. I learned the traditional way on the stovetop with my mother, but my aunt is a big fan of making it using the microwave (30 min and done!). You don't need to tend to it or "pay attention."

I burn rice EVERY time I make it the normal way. I HAD to use minute rice until I got a rice cooker (yay!)

OP, if time is really an issue I second the frozen packets from TJs. Another good option is Success Rice.

Why would anyone waste money buying frozen rice?

Minute Rice...no. I don't think Success brand rice in the bags is too bad, though; 10 minutes to cook.

Wrong.

We are either Asian, or people who know better or a combination of the two.

Don't any of you read? There's a big concern about arsenic in rice - all rice - brown is especially bad. It's coming from the water where it is grown. Low levels, but still. http://www.clarionledger.com/article/20130923/NEWS/309230016/FDA-tests-find-very-low-levels-arsenic-rice

Not stupid at all. Sometimes people ask questions about products and food they've never tried. Hope you have a great day!
