Single mom of a toddler here...I second the park idea. We're there a lot and I often strike up conversations with the other moms/dads. Agree with PP that most of the dads are married (and genuinely seem unnerved when I strike up a friendly conversation) so you'd be welcome! |
19:56 here, my dd goes up and talks to everyone, especially men. She is just a sociable kid, especially if the guy has his own kid or a dog. Gosh, she just cannot not pet every dog she sees. Anyways, maybe someday she will strike up a conversation with the man that ends up becoming her stepdad, who knows. I have decided to stop discouraging her sociableness, it is just her nature and it is charming. Maybe I can learn from her! |
I'm a single mom in my 40s with young kids. Honestly, I find it hard to meet single dads in the park, at kids activities. No idea who is married/single. Seems like everyone is married to me. As much as I hate it, I have met some good people on line. Have to weed through a lot....
Good luck. It's tough balancing everything. |
PP...do you prefer single with kids or no kids? |
Maybe it's because they think you are trying to hit on them. I don't think it's a good idea to try to meet people to date at the park with your kids (and that goes for both single moms or single dads). The last thing people want is to feel like taking their kids to the park is some kind of singles scene. There's just something sort of weird about that. OP, have you tried taking up a hobby, something that involves a group or classes? |

I have a gut feeling that OP is legit and also my "newly" ex-H in "nwdc." |

"Why aren't you complaining about the single dad who is trying to take time away from his kids to focus on finding a woman? Shouldn't he wait until his kids are grown ?"
Yes, why is it that single dad is getting helpful advice, while single moms are told to not think about dating until their kids are grown? |
