Okay, perhaps this wasn't the best thread someone could start. But I will withhold judgement about the OP's intent, and add a few names that came up when we were all sharing horrible name stories at a friend's dinner.

Read Story (A child I babysat in highschool)

Roger Dodger (My mom's college boyfriend. Sounds suspicious though. Have you ever met a "Dodger")

Harold Bush (an actual practicing gyno in Charlottesville who prefers his nickname "Harry." He is in the phonebook)

Chardonney Smith (What the really nice woman who works at Giant in my neighborhood named her daughter. She rang up wine a lot, and liked the sound of this. I think it is pretty)

Lots more that are escaping me now, but we had a good time with this little parlor game. So let's go easy on the OP. Throw this topic out the next time you have some friends over, and it is really funny.

(and apologies Mrs. Smith if you are reading this.)

Worst name I ever heard - Cloud - for a boy.

I wanna see your sense of humor when your DC comes home crying saying friends made fun of him/her at school...

PLEASE lighten up! If a child has a name that other's make fun of, the parent's should tell the child that the joke is on the other kids, because maybe they don't have such a unique name (or family name, etc.) Heavens, I have a name that BEGS teasing, but my parents helped me embrace it and now I love it. I consider it my first leason in character building, and being proud of who I am.

I kind of like some of the surname names-sounds cool, unusual, and conveys family history. What I don't get is people naming 2 sons Casey and Cody-either you're Kathy Lee or you're planning for them to have a future in steam engine locomotion and minor league baseball. And Jeeves, Jerry Seinfeld was right about this one-destined to become a butler. Mortimer is pretty bad but thankfully you don't see that as often as Toshiba( a real name, first not last, of a non-Japanese girl I once met). Fidel(except in some parts of Cuba), Sky and or Skye( if you don't live in California) and Uniqua-becomes obsolete the minute you pick it. Elizabeth is the most beautiful name I can think of with Allison not far behind. You could become a queen, a housewife, a person Elvis Costello wrote about, a fashion designer, a really great preschool teacher, a murderess or a secret service agent with those two. I mean, the list goes on and on. And for boys, definately Jesus-I know, a lot to live up to but very multi-cultural. For Jews, Adam or David-pretty much says it all, don't you think?
