| ^ typo ~ HE made the $ in the summer |
| $200/month poster here. We do it on a semester basis- $1000/semester. Figure that learning a little budgeting skills would be a good thing. |
| DC is paying for all social things, like pizza and dinner out, and for all personal items like shampoo and toothpaste, out of the $3,000 DC saved from the summer job. DC attends one of the 10 most expensive schools in the country, an Ivy, without FA and we figure we're doing our part by footing the $60k tuition. |
Well arent u gods gift to warthogs?

On a related note, how much do you spend in gas for the helicopter? |
| It's cultural , very common for white boomers to saddle their own offspring with tens of thousands in debt to find their stupid vacation and early retirement at 50. Totally crap generation at work. |
Really? My in-laws have been retired since their 50's (just turned 80). They spent zilch on braces, college for their kids (there are 4). DH and sibs funded their own college, and for two of them their own braces. On the other hand we will be working until 70 probably and have very little saved. Our kids are bankrupting us, I think. |
OP asked, I answered. Not sure why you have a problem with that.... |
|
| I am thinking $100 a week is reasonable. That's for extra food, clothes, beer, gas everything. |

What great parents-- did not pay for college or braces. I have never heard of parents who did not pay for their kids braces. How about the doctor when the kids got sick? WTF. Why have kids if you are not going to take care of them. I would not tell that story PP. it makes the parents look very bad. |
Here's where I see the problem. Part of going to college is the transition to adulthood. There are many months where I don't have $400 for extras. Chances are when your son gets his first job and begins incurring living expenses against his/her salary they won't have that much left over either. Then what? Do you send your adult child every week so they can have a life they cannot afford for themselves? |
|
You should have picked a better career if you get to the end of a month and do not have $400 left for extras. That's just sad.

Go away, shitty person that you are. |
Well said. You, I like.
