This is the OP. Thanks for the recs - keep them coming!
From the ones suggested so far: I have seen: Let me in Misery Rosemary's Baby Carrie The Ring Scream Saw Halloween Candyman The Shining Cabin in the Woods (Sorry, but I really did not like this movie!) Haven't seen but will check out Twilight Zone Dawn of the Dead Let the Right One In Insidious It Salem's Lot Don't be afraid of the dark Mama The Others And I may re-watch some I have already seen. Today I watched Texas Chainsaw Massacre

Not the PP. Actually, I enjoyed the Swedish version, "Let the Right One In," more. Mostly because of the great cinematography. The Swedish location made the movie feel so cold and stark. I also think that the vampire love story, while scary, was more bittersweet because of the two actor's screen chemistry. |

John carpenters " the thing"
The Blair witch project Stephen kings " the mist" and "the shining" |

Not horror, but really creepy and good - Shutter Island
|
|
The Exorcist.
OP how do you watch so many horror flicks and not have nightmares?! |
|
I was seriously laughing when I saw Mama at the theater. Total waste of time and not worth it.
If only The Conjuring was available...saw it twice and STILL screamed several times second time around lol. It was seriously good. |

| TV series American Horror Story. Loved the first season. |
Yes! The atmosphere of the original is amazing. It definitely made me feel cold. And the kids who play the leads are just fantastic. It definitely beats the American remake. |

Open Water
When a Stranger Calls Cape Fear Fatal Attraction I cannot remember the name, but it was a terrifyingly true story about a young couple who just got engaged, go to a rural cabin, and are stalked/terrorized by 3 people. The scariest movie I have ever seen. |
I wouldn't recommend that to someone who wants a true horror flick. it's pretty bad. |
|
PP here. I found it online for you!
It is called "The Strangers." I am still haunted by it. |
| The Exorcist - one of the scariest movies ever made. |
Funny Games, the one with Naomi Watts, is a similar psychological thriller. You'll need a tranquilizer after watching those two movies! |
