Short hair trend?

My husband loves my short hair. Much better than when it's long. After 40 years of cutting it, growing it out only to put it in a clip every day, I've finally reconciled myself to the hard truth. My hair looks like crap long. It will never be luxurious or sexy, no matter how many hair magazines I buy. Some people just look better with short hair.

I think the most important thing with short hair cuts is that people need to at least be willing to spend just a little time doing their hair in the morning. Sure there are some who have just great head of hair that can do wash and shake out pixie cuts, just like there are some who have perfect thick long hair that air dries beautifully out of the shower......but for the average person, short hair requires a bit more maintenance.
A good cut from a good stylist (they should show you how to style easily) will cut down on the time, but there will be some time no matter what.

Also, the older you get, it becomes critical that the cut is a modern/funkier cut. Otherwise the look can easily become dated, like how all women a generation or 2 ago thought you had to cut your hair all off after "40" or something arbitrary. Then the effect is 180 degrees from the intended look!

I think the keys to rocking short hair are probably the same as rocking grey hair (and more power to those who can do both!).
* current cut
* using the products and taking the time for it to look good
* well fitting, current clothing
* fit and healthy (looking) physique
* always wearing at least some makeup (mascara and gloss at the least)

And it definitely helps to have great bone structure.

Jamie Lee Curtis looked amazing in this last season of NCIS. Even DH, who loves my hair long, thinks she is hot. Can't think of any other celebrity women with short hair. Examples?

I look like total crap with short hair. I can't go shorter than my shoulders. I have a round face. Anytime it gets the slighest bit above shoulders good friends have told me I took better with longer hair.

If you can rock it, rock it.

I also have a DH who hates short hair on women...though I am sure if it was Halle Berry or somebody like that he wouldn't mind.

On a side note, I really wish my MIL would grow out her butchy short spiky do. She would look so much better with a bob-length. My mom went through a short hair phase and since 60 she has worn a straight elegant bob and it looks so much less aging.

I have fine, blah hair and good bone structure; I look so much better with short hair. But DH prefers it long, so I leave it long.

I thought Gwyneth Paltrow looks fantastic when she cut her hair short several years ago. Love Michele Williams with her hair short. Hallie Berry.

^ All of those women do look great, but they have slender faces and great bone structure.

You have to have a pixie face to pull off a pixie cut. It worked for me at 20. At 32, not so much.

I love my short hair. It's not a pixie cut, but still fairly short. My hair's naturally curly and fine, so I don't need to do a ton of styling, just a dab of gel and let it dry naturally. Feels much more me than my long hair did. Short hair definitely calls more attention to your face. I have good bone structure (so I've been told), so it works for me.

I am complimented at least once a day for my pixie.
I have a pretty face. Expressive eyes. A nice figure and I dress well and always wear makeup and earrings.
Think Hallie Berry, Michelle Williams, Audtey Hepburn.
No problems getting men to glance my way, either.
You need a pretty face or you look butch.

I have curly hair which is in a short pixie. Takes me approximately 15 seconds to style every morning. And I get plenty attention from men. I do always wear earrings though. I love it; every time I have grown it out I miss it and go back.

Robin Wright looks great in her short hair.

I wish I could pull it off, but I have a stronger jaw. The other thing that sucks is that while most men prefer long hair, mine actually encourages me to cut it (if I want to).

Funny, though, how we have to deal with their unattractive receding hairlines (or bald heads), but they throw a big fit if we cut ours.

It's the summer. It's hot. I never had long hair, i grow shoulder length max, and it's usually it's shortest over the summer months.
