OP do you wear gloves to put on your shoes? Otherwise you are probably getting pedal dirt on your fingers!

The biggest safety issue with pedals is heels. Every so often someone gets stuck and accelerates into a car or building. The insurance industry knows this because women are safer drivers, yet are responsible for far more sudden acceleration accidents.

I think there are safety concerns with driving barefoot, especially for a 17 year old still learning how to drive. But why do you care how dirty or not someone's feet may be?

If she has her own car "at her age" she is presumably the only one who drives it, therefore dirty shoes never touch her pristine pedals, and her feet stay just as clean as they were when she started driving. Problem solved.
