What in the hell is wrong with Yahoo email?

Anonymous
Have had huge problems with Yahoo! lately -- messages delayed for hours or never getting there at all. Now fixed, but I'm seriously thinking of leaving. Don't like Gmail for the reasons mentioned upthread though.

I have both, but am thinking of hopping over to Outlook. Because why not?

Dunno. Don't trust them with my privacy. Their motto is "Do no harm," but they are basically just another for profit company.

This cracked me up.

Yahoo is the GM of the Internet. So much for Tumblr.

True. OP again. My inbox has 35,000 emails in it, from over the years. For some reason, I think I might want to reference them (not)! I do mostly use gmail right now. I don't want to take all the incoming emails I get at yahoo there with me.

My mail window is suddenly much smaller, and there's a blank column on the right, which I assume is an ad that I can't see due to my ad blocker.

Pardon the grammar errors, it's way too early.

I use fastmail.fm, and it appears to be a non american company, where you can even choose where sent mail can "appear" to come from, it doesn't have to be your fastmail account handle. I've used it for years a a throw away account.

Last week, yahoo asked me for an answer to a security question I couldn't remember when I created my account in 2009. They locked my account, the one that receives notices of bills due, school info, and other important stuff. It took several hours to get it unlocked.

Moving everything to gmail.

One of my email accounts was recently reclaimed by Yahoo in their sweep of dead email accounts. That's fine, but days after they did this a Spam email was sent out using the old account to some of my contacts and it originated with the "dead" email account. Lovely. It makes me wonder who now has control of my old email account.

A lot of people use yahoo as their "bat email". Also once you log onto the net be it using google or Netscape navigator your being tracked exactly the same. Get over it.
