I need music in my life

Anonymous
I know the fan demographics for many bands !!! Is that a great skill or what ?
For example, a classical music concert brings the older, somewhat wealthy, wine & cheese type fans, whereas a heavy metal band will draw the younger, tatoo, blue collar crowd, drinking lots of beer...

Someone might ask, so what kind of fan demographics are members of this forum ? Well, I would say the Billy Joel crowd.

I have never been a musician, but I have always needed to have music in my life. My iPod has 1300 songs on it, and I still have another 40 cds that I can put on it.

You can get a decent one for under $150, and the docking station to play it on for about $100 (or less)

My ipod is filled wth an eclectic list. When I need to vent I put on something loud like the Ramones (not mom-themed but always makes me happy) or Sleater-Kinney. (After Corin Tucker had a baby they worked motherhood into a few songs). When I need to laugh, I listen to Rocknoceros (local kids' band), Barenaked Ladies, or They Might Be Giants, when I need to chill, it's something like Guster or Jason Mraz, or female singer-songwriters like Beth Orton, Lisa Germano, Ani Difranco or Dar Williams....

If you like indie music, there's a great radio station in Seattle that offers a weekday podcasts of a song. Sometimes it's someone I've heard of, often it's not, but I can feel cool when they show up in the Black Cat concert listings a few months later. You can subscribe to their podcast (free) via iTunes, or see/download past daily picks at their blog: http://blog.kexp.org/blog/category/song-of-the-day-podcast/

I've just discovered this group. Nice! How do you pronounce their name? Is it Le-on or Le-own?

For those over forty who wish to impress their friends as well as enrich themselves-Vietnam, Aimee Mann, Radiohead, Wilco, The Decemberists, Isaac Hayes, Jamie Cullem, My Morning Jacket and dare I say it, Coldplay. Keep exploring (talking about music here, not sex).
