Chicken Out Rotisserie for Thanksgiving?

Maybe just open it and check it well in advance of serving. I'm sure it was an anomaly, but it really put a damper on my friends' Thanksgiving!

I have done these three:

Chicken out -- the best by far. delicious!
Balducci's - a close second but more expensive (also you cook the turkey yourself, but it comes ready to put in, so it's easy. but at least then you can say you cooked something )
whole foods -- third place. not as good.

Go with Chicken out. It's yummy.

ANd I think it is so funny that people would be "ashamed" -- hysterical!! You get your self-worth from COOKING? that is so sad.......

Perhaps they just weren't stored (refrigerated) well for the trek out to the "remote cabin in the woods!"

Really? So incredibly funny to you that you would term it hysterical? Did you laugh out loud? Tears of mirth streaming down your face?

Maybe minimally amusing, if you are that kind of person - maybe a little twinge of compassion that someone has an issue with confidence or self-esteem if you're not. Hysterical? Not so much. I guess you get your self-worth from putting others down. Sad.

WHOA! I didn't write it, but also got a chuckle out of the idea of Chicken Out = SHAME!! I'm not sure if that's a self-esteem issue, maybe more a snooty issue...lol!

Certainly, I would be ashamed to serve up fast food for my Thanksgiving meal, unless there were extenuating circumstances.

Can I ask, do you sit around and watch it in front of the television?

Yikes. Do you have a self-esteem issue like the PP noted or are you just self-righteous and crabby? Different strokes, folks.

back to the original question -- i don't like chicken out but we did whole foods thanksgiving the year my son was born (10 days before t-giving, with the bris in between) and thought it was terrific. we did the whole turkey that we had to cook ourselves and the sides. big hit -- in fact, we took some of the sides to my in-laws the next year and they were such a hit that my SIL has asked that we do it again this year. of course, that could say more about my mil's cooking, but that's another story.

You can easily crock pot a turkey breast and it is delicious.

My wife cooked a full Thanksgiving meal: Turkey, Brussel sprouts, sweet potato, mashed potatoes, gravy, while in labor with her first child. She just had time to enjoy some of it before we had to head in to the hospital.

This may not be for everyone, but is it really that much trouble to stick a turkey in the oven for a couple of hours and cook a few veg?

If money isn't the issue - Alexandria Pastry did lovely catering for us on Thanksgiving (just the sides).

Personally, I don't like Chicken Out but if that's what it took to make the holiday managable and fun for all, I wouldn't care at all.

I doubt that this poster is even serious, but look, the op did not ask if she should get a catered meal or just cook herself. She said she wants to buy a catered dinner and whatever her reasons are is none of your business.
