What's up with all the flats?

Kitten heels and low heels are much more matronly than on-trend flats. Sorry.

This. Plus, my pants are chosen and/or hemmed for high heels or flats and they look funny with anything in between.

I hate kitten heels - they are less attractive than flats.

I do wear wedges and low heels for work, but not so much for casual. I wore 3 1/2 inch heels for about 3 hours yesterday for an event and today my back is sore. I am now old enough that I prefer to avoid back pain or other pain for the sake of fashion.

Ever walk around with a kid on your hip in heels?

Heels are stupid. Enjoy your ^$% ugly bunions and hammertoes beginning at age 34.

Why do women have to wear shoes that you find sexy and fashionable?

Flats are fine. They can be cute and they are comfortable. Period.

I had part of my meniscus removed and am not "allowed" to wear heels, lest I need to have the rest of it out.

I hate heels. Uncomfortable, hard to walk in them, and they ruin your feet and posture. Cute flats are comfortable and appropriate for my office.

I rarely wear heels. I run about 100 miles a month, plus miles more of walking. I beat up my feet all the time and they take it, so the last thing I want to do is beat them up more by wearing heels. The heels I do have are 1-2" and pretty wide for better support. I would never wear stilettos. So many of my friends complain about wearing shoes that hurt and it just seems so silly to me.

It probably helps that I'm 5'8" and have great legs from all the running, regardless of what shoes I wear.

I tend to always wear flats, and I think they are super-cute, but I get why one would wear heels to work, out for nice dinner, etc. When I see women tottering around on heels while shopping, running errands, doing school pick-up, I think they look RIDICULOUS and juvenile.

Because I walk everywhere, and I tear up all forms of heels instantly. Heels are great if you are going from car to house to office, but if you actually live outside a bit, they just don't work on a daily basis. I do look much better in them though, so I wish they did. But, I don't look much better in torn up heels.

Exactly. I happen to have said bunions and worse than their appearance is their debilitating pain. Trust me, if your feet had my issues, you wouldn't be able to wear heels.

I've gotta agree.

Absolutely true.

Sorry, I have to disagree. I love my kitten heels. You can't tell me that these are matronly:

And if you do, well, I'd rather look matronly than like a hooker, which is the only thing I can think of when I see your 3.5" heels.

If you walk anywhere on capitol hill, it's at least a half mile once inside the buildings. Between distance and slippery marble floors, I try to steer clear of heels.

Sorry, those are awful.

Some people have foot issues which prohibit them from wearing heels (me) or smartly recognize that they are a poor decision for your health.

Others may prefer to be comfortable and wear flats.

To each their own.
