| I just read the article and I need to go take a shower now. |

That whole thing is like a DCUM farce thread.
Multiple houses in DC, Florida and Maine? Husband 20 years older than unfaithful wife? And this gem: "Though Newmyer was an alumnus and a financial supporter of the school, he didn’t think the school would challenge his daughter. According to court documents, he was concerned she would be bored and “lose her advanced learning abilities at a young age.”" |
And the school actually sent somebody to his house to evaluate her "advanced abilities"? |
I know, right? How much did they donate, exactly? |
|
Am I the only one who finds THIS more troubling than consenting adults having sex:
"8th grade girls talking about male P.E. teachers that try to hit on them.” How do they manage to cover THAT up? |
OP was asking why Sidwell did not settle. |

and some February 2010 bullying incident that never saw the light of day -- until now.
Bob Woodward not pleased with the way Huntington handled the matter, and they registered their displeasure with Sidwell via e-mail. |
| The details of the affair aside, the psychologist violated APA ethics rules by getting involved with a client's mother. |
Huntington went voluntarily because he was 'friends' with the mom. |

I don’t know what all the fuss is about. So, the school shrink is using his position at the school to enter into raunchy affairs with the parents of the kids he’s treating; the P.E. teachers are hitting on 8th grade girls and high profile parents are outraged by the school’s handling of bullying. It’s not like the 8th grade boys are conducting a fantasy draft of girls – at Sidwell that is presumably left to the grown-ups – even after they had to fire an 8th grade teacher for fondling a 15 year old.

| Not easy to be an 8th grade private school girl in this area. Jeesh. |
| I can't believe the explicit emails sent over the school's system. I cannot believe his email about wondering if he should tell her daughter. Decisions, decisions. This is madness! Does this man still have his job? Sidwell was insane not to settle. I bet they settle before this goes to court. That often happens. |
He did get fired. Which makes it even weirder that they didn't settle, knowing he was guilty. |
| I just saw that. I just read through to the end. I love the three judges having to recuse themselves because of Sidwell connections. The mother lost custody of her daughters, who live with their father in Florida. That's extreme in the age of shared custody. I bet Sidwell settles now. How stupid can Sidwell be? Now this publicity is going to force the school to have to settle for more. |
| Plaintiff seems like a vindictive bastard, whose primary goal is to trash the everyone involved, so maybe quiet settlement was not a viable option. If that's how it's going down, then as a private school parent, I'd want my school to fight rather than cave in to that kind of trash. |
