Don't know about your math but what do you think it means? Is the White House leaning on these publishers? Or what?

No, the magazines want to sell their product. Like her or not Michelle Obama is a fashion icon of sorts.

Are you saying you havent seen any beautiful African Americans around you? That is racist.

Jeff, is this the same person who posts about Michelle Obama over and over. It is so tiresome.

Beyond that, it's pandering. My kids just have friends. They really don't need me to point out race

It's racist and pandering to appreciate the fact that fashion magazine covers are not just full of white people? You people sound like Michael Scott from the office: " You know what? This is a color-free-zone here. Stanley, I don't look at you as another race."

Uh, that's what I found in five minutes of trying, for first ladies who were in the WH pre-Internet.

Seriously. Laura Bush was on the cover of:

People
Good Housekeeping
Ladies Home Journal
USA Weekend
Parade

But the reality is that Michelle is just more interesting to the American people than either Laura or Barbara Bush ever were.

This and also the fact that African Americans have very few role models to look up to and when a magazine like Vogue puts us on the cover, it speaks volumes not only for our communities and the impact it will have on our children, but on the world and seeming acceptance and tolerance of people of color.

I think this is very simple. The last First Ladies were:

Laura Bush
Hillary Clinton
Barbara Bush
Nancy Reagan
Roslyn Carter

The only one who even attempted to do anything remotely fashion-forward was Nancy Reagan. She was sixty when she came to the White House and her principal contributions were (1) her preference for the color red, and (2) wearing designers including Oscar de la Renta, who designed her inaugural gown. A gown which - irony alert - dared to bare one shoulder.

Hey OP, just admit that you flat out hate Michele Obama and the President. Seriously, there is nothing that this woman can do right in your eyes and so it's really not worth having a discussion about this - instead I'll point out the obvious thing that gets your panties in a twist every time you see her and her family. The vast majority of Americans love her, think she's a great role model, and are very proud to have her as our First Lady. Further, even many people who don't agree with President Obama politically still like him as a person. This makes you so mad you want to scream. So you desperately grasp for anything, no matter how microscopic, that you can relentlessly twist and mischaracterize into something you can frame as a negative regarding the first family. You puff up your chest and bloviate on how OUTRAGED you are, you use words of the extreme (UNPRECEDENTED! SHAMEFUL! DISGUSTED! ABSOLUTE ARROGANCE!), and troll the web posting things in the hope that you can convince other people to view the world the way you do. In the end, you aren't changing any minds and you just look desperate. And that makes sense because you are desperate. I'm not sure what your reason for the hatred is although there are a few things that come to mind as possibilities. But I guess I don't really care why you are a hater. What I really care about is that you are in the minority, people love the Obama's, and no amount of stamping your feet and throwing little Rumplestiltskin tantrums will change that - sorry, but YOU LOSE!

I some of yall wonder why I start absurd threads when a bulk of them are about over analyzing and comparing how many covers of a magazine Michelle Obama has v other first ladies.

And for the ones entertaining these bafoons, why? Laura Bush could have snagged the cover of 1,000 magazines during her eight years and OP would have started this bullshit thread.

Ive said it a million times, why dont you fools just say you hate everything about the Obama's. Whether its politics, race, party, or whatever, just say you hate them. You waste your time crying about the most absurd and meaningless shit that goes so far out of the way to show your dislike for them.

Id rather you be upset at people fawning over them as oppose to bitching about magazine covers and vacations while making non sequitur and out the ass connections to all of this to real life issues of the day.

"oh michelle is on another magazine cover. look how sharia law is being shoved down our throats"

give the shit a rest.
