When did you stop using your baby monitor?

I don't use ours ever at night... and haven't since my DD was 7 months. We live in a small house and I can totally tell if something bad has happened (mid-night-poop) vs I just woke up an want a bit of company. I do use it during my son's "rest time" now still - he is 4 but I just want to be sure he isn't getting into too much trouble.

We use ours. DS is 3.5. Gotta see if he's out of bed.

3.5 still using and no plans to stop. I like to know what she is up to and our house is set up do I wouldn't hear her in my room or downstairs.

I picked up on her throwing up, walking out of her bed to play and someone breaking into the neighbor's house.

It will be on for a while still since DC2 is just 5 months old.

Wait, what?! How did your video monitor show this?

Out bedroom leads into DD's, you can't get closer and still be in separate rooms. She is 2 and I still use it. But I am crazy.

We just stopped using it this year, and DS is 5. My husband snores like crazy, so i usually sleep with earplugs in. I kept it turned up loud so that I could hear DS if he called for me. We still occasionally use it if we're sitting on the front porch drinking wine and he's sleeping.

We used it for naps until DD was about 2.5, but mostly for entertainment purposes. It was a video monitor, and she'd often sing or perform shows or just sow destruction in interesting ways. Would've kept it, but it died at that point, and we realized there was no real need to replace it. She was plenty capable of yelling for us or getting out of bed if she needed help.

my 4.5 yo still uses one.

Tiny house; never needed one.

I want to hear more about the PP who heard the break-in!

Yep - us too. Just stopped w/ 4.5 y/o because we left the monitor at my brother's house, but have LOVED listening in on the conversations she had with her stuffed animals. We still use it in our twins room (who are 3), some for comedy (again the conversations are a riot) but then also in case they are crying out. That said, we turn it off when we go upstairs at night because I would now definitely hear any ruckus.

We chucked our after about 3 weeks. Didn't see the need for one.

Never use it when we're all upstairs, but we keep the receiver in the family room where you can't hear her. So it's on during naps and at night but we're only really using it in one room. DD is 2.

I don't use one with my 4 month old since she started sleeping through the night.

Unfortunately our children's bedrooms are upstairs while our master bedroom is downstairs. They slept in our room till around 18-months-old and now they are 5, 8, and 11 and I still have a monitor in every room.

I know that I'll have to remove it from the 11-year-old's room pretty soon, but as of now she doesn't mind.

11? That's a joke, right?
