My hands used to be just like yours. I don't need to use hand cream at all now.
Eat enough saturated and omega-3 fat to support your skin, make sure the air at home is humidified, and wear gloves outside and when working with water. |

I use this. It works great. I Initially discovered it in Germany, but they sell it at Whole Foods. It's not expensive.
Also, I agree with PP... you may have a humidifier for your kids, but put one in your bedroom too. It's made a HUGE difference in how my skin and hair has looked and felt this winter. I'm also no longer thirsty in the night. |
| I use baby aquaphor |

Examine your soap. Mine get dry this time of year because it's cold and flu season and I wash my hands 50 times a day. Get something moisturizing, avoid dish soap and NEVER, EVER USE HAND SANITIZER.
I second vaseline, I get the kind that smells like lavender. Aquaphor and Eucerin are basically very expensive vaseline. |
| Look for a hand cream (not lotion) with shea butter. Burt's Bees, Body Shop or L'Occitane (my favorite). |
| Eucerin is the brand used by doctors and nurses for the constant hand washing. Also rubber gloves for doing dishes. |
You need to use something from Europe where mineral oil is not the first ingredient, which is an old U.S. law preventing absorption. I use the cream above and have my mom send me all kinds of hand crieam from Europe. Winter is he'll on hands. Also drink lots of water, which I never do enough of. |

DH's hands get cracked & dry in the winter. It's horrible, and one would think he works outside with how bad they get. He has tried everything, but nothing has worked until recently. I put some O'Keefe's Working Hands in his stocking at Christmas and he is in love with the stuff. It is seriously the only thing that has worked for him. I bought it on Amazon, where it's available in larger tubs, but it's also available at CVS and I think Auto Zone.

| Use coconut oil. It mousturizes really well and if it gets on your clothes or sheets it washes right out. |
| acquaphor or cerave |
| When it's really bad, Aquaphor right after washing. When it improves a bit, I switch to Aveeno Baby or Cerave bc they're less greasy. Also, a humidifier really helps if you don't use one already. |
| We have a whole-house humidifier. Makes all the difference in the world. |
