Ha - we were at a Christmas party last night and all the Feds were the ones lamenting the fact that they had to work. Most of the private sector people had offices closed at least Monday and Tuesday and many all week. It's seriously not just Feds that are going to be the only ones off Monday. And I've read that with so many people taking leave anyway, it can cost more to run the offices that day than actual productivity occurs. Feds are also continuously shit upon in the news and haven't received raises for three years. So can we just have a day of admin leave without this being another example of how lazy we are? Please?

I'm being told it's a rumor, as nothing is on OPM or the WHite house site.
FWIW, if we have the day off, I work my ASS off and earned it. Thank you very much. |

I doubt that various credible websites (now including WAPO) would report a rumor as fact. I think OPM is just slow (surprise, surprise)

| I used to be a Fed and I thought it was bullshit when we got paid for extra days. I think it is particularly egregious when our economy is a bad as it is now and our national debt is out of control. Quite frankly the nation can't afford to pay your holiday. |
