Am I going to regret white appliances?

Stainless is definitely on the way out. The wave of the future will be color or textured appliances in flat colors but we aren't there yet.

This may be true, but they are still more "in" than white or black. Ew.

In my view white is classic and will always be in style. Stainless will probably be around for awhile and is a safe bet for a more modern feel. Black is more akin to the avocado appliances of the past, I wouldn't go for that.

What does this look like exactly?

Avocado green perhaps? Very nostalgic.

I have black appliances and am happy with them.

I'm no design maven, but I prefer white. Don't mind stainless. Unfortunately, our fridge is black.

I think it's too late to worry about switching. People pay a lot extra for stainless just for looks. The color of an appliance does make it work better.

White is fine. I wouldn't judge you for it. Stainless is prob going out, so when you are ready to sell/update you can get the latest then.

Wow, I am in the exact same situation--bought a house with white...dishwasher broke we replaced it with white...now looking at replacing the fridge...

The dishwasher we got was fairly inexpensive, but the fridge I want is almost $3000. I was telling Dh how I really hate the thought of spending that much on something that I would really prefer a different color (for me, that is black).

I've heard SS is on it's way out for almost 6 years now...not sure if it is or not.

Yeah, SS is on its way out...NOT. Every program on HGTV and DIY touts SS...not white or black.

Stainless is pretty timeless. My grandparents had a stainless kitchen, even. I also like panels over stainless to match the cupboards (as long as the cupboards aren't already an ugly grain/colour).

I think white looks cheap and black looks weird.

having said that, we haven't done our kitchen yet and this house came with a cheap white fridge, almond dishwasher, ivory stove, and black microwave. Horrors. wtf?

But does white look cheap just when the appliances actually are old and cheap? Wouldn't a brand shiny new high-end white refrigerator still look pretty cool?

If you're not selling in the next 10-15 years then no one should care what material or color or if they are the same. Just you, enjoy!

I personally like things to match, even though I prefer the classic stainless steel appliances over others. So in your onesies situation I guess I'd do white replacements as they come up...

I love my white appliances.

To me, white always looks kinda cheap. But with light counters & cabinets they make more sense than black.

I think it all depends on what you think you might do with the kitchen in the future. For example, our kitchen has dark countertops, dark floors, and cherry cabinets. White appliances would look awful in there. Stainless or black look way better.

I lived in a house with all white and just bought a house with stainless. Guess what? I care how well they work! Black, white, or stainless as long as everything matches and works really well, I don't care. White is classic. I think black and stainless are newish trends but white will always be around.
