I know, I was thinking the same thing. I have not posted in any other threads, thought I have followed them, on this topic, but, really, Crazy Marshall Lady, you need to put your megaphone down and tone down the boostering. Thx.

I remember her, too. The Marshall HS teacher who always comes out swinging if anyone writes anything bad about Marshall. This is the only DCUM "personality" that I have recognized.

I'm pretty sure they are different posters. I remember the Marshall HS teacher, who has posted occasionally on DCUM for years. She always has nice things to say about the school and sounds like the type of teacher you'd want your kids to have.

Crazy Marshall Lady is a recent arrival. She (or he) lives, or flips houses, in Pimmit Hills, and never shuts up about Marshall's recent US News ranking or recent property sales in Pimmit Hills.

Yes, I think you are right. I would welcome any thoughful input from a Marshall teacher. I think it is the CML/PH flipper poster who bugs.

The top schools are below with their respetive state rankings

#1 is TJ (you have to test in, it's a magnet)
#3 Marshall
#4 McLean
#5 James W. Robinson Jr. Secondary School
#6 Langley
#7 W.T. Woodson
#8 James Madison High School
#9 Oakton High School
#11 Lake Braddock Secondary School

Hahaha. Crazy Marshall Lady trying to sell her one can of snake oil one more time.

This doesn't seem crazy to me, sounds pretty reasonable. Most of these schools are within a 5-7 mile radius thus showing the high costs and value of the real estate associated with them.

You are not from around here, are you?

Except for the Greenbriar poster.

No I skulked off to Leesburg and came here only when I was in Vienna.

Better to reign in DCUM hell than serve in DCUM heaven.

OP here. I'm a stay at home mom. Commute does not factor in.

OP again. After some research, I also would like for AAP to be an option. That should narrow our search significantly- right?

Can we go a week without a thread about "where is the best of best for my snowflake" question?

If your kid gets into AAP, they get transportation to the local AAP center from the base school. So that shouldn't narrow your search, unless you have several kids, think some but not all will get into AAP, and want them all to attend the same school.

If you want to be close to DC and in the "best" pyramids, check out schools in the Langley and McLean pyramids. If you want a small-town feel, check out the Town of Vienna and nearby areas and schools in the Madison pyramid. If you want more land, check out houses in the Oakton pyramid.

As some of the snowflakes melt, new ones fall from the sky.

Seriously, if it bothers you, there's a very easy solution. Don't read the threads.

Why do your feathers get ruffled so easily? I am moving from Florida with absolutely zero knowledge of the Fairfax area. Education is a priority for us and I was hoping for some guidance. If you're not interested in helping, that's fine. Snarky remark is not necessary though.

Thank you very much 12:23. This helps me a ton!

OP, good luck with the move. Many here will offer clear and sound advice. And that is all it is: advice. Just like noses, people have them. We live in the Langley pyramid, and, there are debates aplenty about Langley vs McLean HS vs Madsion vs Okaton vs....etc etc etc.
Scan thru this, if going public: http://www.fcps.edu/index.shtml

OP, do you have a spouse or SO who will be commuting? Because seriously, it's really important here. Trust us on this.
