| I get so irritated/depressed when I see people in the middle of the country: "I'd like 4 or 5 bedrooms, at least 3 baths and a big yard. Our budget is $150k" Ohhh, DC. |
I saw that too - very odd. I roll my eyes at the young couples who "must" have granite, stainless steel, hardwood floors, etc., all for $200K. |
Me too! |
And they get it pretty much everywhere but here and a few other major cities. We paid a million dollars and still didn't get 2 things on our wish list...not that I want to live in any of the places that some of those people were buying homes. I prefer watching House hunters International--london, or HH Manhattan...places where it is worse than here. Makes me feel better about how much more I get for my $. Of course those ppl prob wouldn't want to live here !

I love the European HH where the apartments are half a million and the living room is 8' across.
The other thing that boils my giblets are the people who buy for one single feature that could easily be added to any of the houses. Really? You're paying $25K more rather than get the countertops switched out? It takes a few days and you don't really cook anyway, idiots. Also "we entertain a lot" - so... aren't all houses good for entertaining, meaning sharing your life with people you love? |
What year was it filmed? They have a tendency to rerun episodes. |
| It was new, filmed in June (we did some Googling last night while watching it). |
So, they found all that "large, upgraded kitchen with granite and new stainless appliances, large back yard, 4 bedrooms, 3 updated bathrooms, finished basement with high ceilings, sun porch, 15 minutes from DC, etc. Max budget, $650,000 " in Falls Church? Where????? I would love all that too and my budget is similar! WHERE?! |
| What was up with the screened porch obsession? Is he not aware of how fucking hot it is here in the summer? Between that and the tv thing he seemed like a real winner.... |
It had a beautiful deck and large back yard. They paid asking price ($600,000) with no escalation clause required. I was very surprised. Not sure where the house was located. On a busy road, perhaps? |
We use our screened porch in the spring, early summer, and fall. It is much better than a deck since the bugs cannot get in. I agree that the DH seemed like a dim bulb, though. |
We also use our screened in porch all the time. Our house is on the smaller side, and it is like an extra room spring, summer, and fall. It is not too bad in the summer if you go out early in the morning or later at night. |
Interesting. I never went upstairs in the bungalow, but that house was for sale for almost 2 years which is almost unheard of in N. Arlington. It was way overpriced. I think it finally sold though a month or so ago. |

Thanks pp! It looks cute - too bad we can't see inside anymore. What are the schools for that address? |
