Which do you support more: Elite Private Schools or Big Bird?

I'm pretty sure OP is a poster who regularly argues every few months in the Private Schools forum that private schools should not be entitled to 501(c) tax-exempt status. The details of her argument shift around, but it usually revolves around the idea that private schools aren't really benefiting all of society equally, so therefore they should not benefit from tax-exempt status. Other times, she's argued that DC-based private schools should lose their exemption from DC taxes, since some portion of their students come from Maryland.

She recently tried to revive this argument on some Private Schools thread, and someone told her to buzz off, since her comment had nothing to do with the discussion at hand. Quite frankly, many people who post in Private Schools have heard her argument several times, and repeatedly shot it full of logical holes. She's not getting any traction there.

I'm guessing this is her again, and that she's just wrapping her favorite 501(c) argument in a Big Bird blanket, so she can try to start the discussion here on the Political Discussion forum.

Enjoy!

BOOM! You caught me being involved and interested in tax policy and its impact on the next generation. Now that I am fully exposed as a member of society, want to add something other than snark.

I did post something yesterday in the private school thread and was very politely asked to post here. I nuanced my question since I thought perhaps all of my questions were a bit too overwhelming? Thank you so much for the "shout out!" Also, I am so sorry to inform you I am not your previous poster who posted on this topic ever. (Maybe there two people with the same idea?) My questions and my right to post them are as valid as your right to troll, hunt and kill your prey. Aren't you in the education business? Strange. I am personally familiar with your writing style and your prose. If we do in fact know each other, I am disappointed because I really liked your DC hanging at my house with my DC. I will not allow my DC to hang out with bullies.

So I guess you're saying you never posted on this topic previously ... prior to yesterday? If that's true, then I encourage you to read some of the links above, so you can become more informed about how the nonprofit tax laws relate to private schools. Many people smarter than I am (and even tax lawyers IIRC) responded to the other 501(c) poster with lots of detail about why her arguments don't make sense. If you want to learn about "tax policy and its impact on the next generation," those other posts are a great place for you to start, if only so you don't make the same embarrassing mistakes that other poster made.

I really don't understand where you're going in this last segment. No, I'm not in the education business, and I doubt our children have even played together.

If you'd like to start a productive discussion about tax policy and education, then I'd suggest you start a straightforward thread aimed at discussing the issues in a mature way. Mixing your tax discussion up with Big Bird and Presidential politics isn't a good way to begin a meaningful discussion.

Thank you for your first sentence. Now, go chew on your bone. You are absolutely batshit. The heroism of Malala standing up for what is right makes me wonder why you care so much to slap a poster on DCUM forum down and it must be a really slow work day for you.

let's review:

1. I asked EXACTLY what I wanted to ask.
3. I got some great feedback and wanted to synthesize my response back to the more serious ones. I also got some adorable responses!
4. I got attacked you accusing me of all kinds of delusional comments.
5. You were out of line. I am sorry you feel so badly about yourself that you have to attack strangers. You can turn that around with a little work, unless you are learning disabled.

Cont. If you are learning disabled in a private school, you may grow to feel out of place. Sesame Street is a place for everyone of every disability!

Why do private schools get government funding? Don't their tuition rates cover their expenses?

OK, OP, thanks for clarifying. I understand now that you're not interested in anything productive. Have a nice day.
