Persimmon is currently closed for renovation.

Faryab

Inn at Glen Echo

I do love all the Blacks Restaurants. I'm not sure if you consider them a "chain."

Haandi is coming back in the old Uptown Deli space, across from Rock Bottom.

Tako Grill used to be better but their main sushi chef went back to Japan (we still go there out of habit unless we're with friends who prefer Matuba).

Mussel Bar is so-so food and way overpriced on both food and beer. Too bad because I want to love it.

Wild Tomato.
Haven Pizza.
Freddy's.

Handi is terrible Indian food - completely watered down. If you want good Indian go to Passage to India.

Bacchus has great Lebanese food and a nice patio.

Black's is local. I'd call it a family of restaurants but it's definitely not a chain.

Addie's, Black Market, and Pearl Dive are all faves. The original Black's used to be, and is still great, but it's gotten out of our price range. (Black Salt's not geographically convenient to us, so can't say about that.)

I agree - I was so psyched when I heard about the place. I thought I would love it, but it was so disappointing. We had a very mediocre meal at best there. Also those teeny tiny tables for 2 do not even accommodate 2 servings of muscles, the bread basket, 2 drinks and 2 waters. Totally annoying.

Satsuma is surprisingly good if you want Japanese (esp. other than just sushi).

I think it's re-opening as a more casual place too.
