So your skeleton is bigger overall, not just taller. |
| A friend of mine used to do some plus-sized modeling. The average size for them was 10-12. Once she hit size 14, she was too big to be a plus sized model and her career was over. And the irony was this was for Lane Bryant - who doesn't sell clothes under size 14. |
| I was just looking at that article and wondering the same thing. She looks like a normal size to me. |
| She reminds me old school pinup girls. |
| I would love to look like her. She looks great. I am many inches shorter though. |
Agreed. This height crap on this board gets on my nerves. Ppl on here always say you are a "fatter" 10 (for example) if you are 5'2" vs 5'10". I would assume the clothing industry sizes the waist/hips/thighs of pants for a 10 the same, and then adjusts the length. |
| She is what my mother would call a "healthy girl." |
That's because of vanity sizing. |
|
while this points to issues with designer perceptions of sizes, i think this points to issues with normal peoples' perceptions of sizes too.
our country has an obesity problem and people think when you're "thick" that you're "normal." and guess what? you are normal, for the overweight society we live in. you're not thin. |
OMG you are six INCHES tall!? |
Yes, except they don't adjust the length. So if you are tall you are going to appear slimmer as a 10 than you will if you are short. Picture a 5' person wearing a size 10 and then someone 5'10" wearing the same pants (which are now cropped). Who do you think will look slimmer? And speaking as someone with a longer-than-average inseam, I really wish they would size them longer!! |
You are talking about appearances, I'm talking about actual measurement. Or are you saying that the waist size for a 10 in longer lengths is different than a 10 in petites for the same brand of pants? |
| double digits is plus size no matter how tall you are. |
| she has a fuppa |
You're right about the size thing, but I think it's silly to call someone who is height-weight proportional, like she is, plus size. |
