wish obama made a more specific case about how he is going to address the debt in a responsible way...and contrast that with the romney plan. make it clear that the dem plan is better for the economy. that the republican plan could halt any economic recovery. he implied this but needs to be stated clearly. |
Here is what Obama said about debt reduction: "Now, I’m still eager to reach an agreement based on the principles of my bipartisan debt commission. No party has a monopoly on wisdom. No democracy works without compromise. I want to get this done, and we can get it done." This is pretty vague given the fact that the bipartisan debt commission (Simpson-Bowles) didn't approve a report. Simpson and Bowles released their own plan, however. I take this to mean that Obama will raise taxes and cut social security, which is what S and B proposed. |
Like Romney figuring that the flack he takes about not releasing his taxes is better than what he'd face if he did, I suspect Obama figured he'd rather be criticized for not being specific than get mired in a debate about specifics of a plan that is going to be changed time and again during negotiations. |
It was a crap speech. You'd have to have a significant amount of self-delusion to think he knocked it out of the park like "sobbing on the couch" lady (really?), and a fair amount to think it was better than Romney's. Not that Romney's was great but this one was *yawn* to bad. |
It was identicle to jimmy carters 1980 speech. Like word for word. |
No complaints about his speech from OBL, Al Quaeda leadership, Al awaki and other Yemmini & Sudan terrorists not even the even the Somoli pirates had anything to say.
Fox new bunnies should listen to what is being |
i take it you listened to rush limbaugh |
I wonder if they copied carter or if it just naturally blurted out of his mouth? |
Go away panty sniffer. |
word for word, huh? was one of those words "identical"? Can none of the right wingers on this board spell? |
Well he did , but it was so brief, many people missed it. He said that Romney has promised to give billions of dollars to the military to build weapons that the joint chief of staff has said they do not want or need. Obama said that instead of throwing that money away on unwanted toys, he would use that money to bring down the deficit and pour it into infrastructure, teachers in math/science, and energy efficiency. It would create jobs for millions. |
Alternative energy workers? Whats the plan for that? Solyndra? Algea? Whats the plan to get us energy independent and create jobs? We are giving millions to venezuela to support their drilling effort and here we are investing in stupid solar panel companies who are bankrupt. Keep the govt out of it!! If Obama didnt spend our tax $$ on this crap maybe we could hire some more teachers. But why not tax the"rich" and we can have it all! |
Are convention speeches generally filled with policy details? I think a convention is essentially a rally designed to garner enthusiasm in the base. I am not a big Obama fan, but I will vote for him instead of Romney. Romney stands for nothing but personal ambition. I used to view Ryan with soem respect, but it seems to me that he is a hypocrite and a liar. Nothing anyone says at a political rally will sway my opinion. The debates might be interesting, but I doubt it. |
B O just channeled his inner jimmy carter on that one. What a bunch of 1970s loser talk. B O should wear earth shoes with flairs at the debates. |
Obama did great. Romney is making fiscal promises without showing the work that pays for them. We're better off either raising taxes or cutting defense when the sequester kicks in.
For those not following the last 30 years of Republican history, the fiscal tactic of the party is to create budget crises so they can roll back programs they don't like. |
