If the Republicans are going to say "They Hate God" then they have hit rock bottom. It's just the end of the line for them. |
Amazing how much a few words from romney can make the dimocrats change their platform against the will of their own people. the party leaders obviously understand the democrat voters are really crazy |
Yet, Israel always bring the United States to its knees. I must admit, I do not understand the power they have over this country. Is it because the American Jewish community stick together and pour lots and lots of money into lining congressmen and women pockets that now congress is Israel's ho. What's the deal. Somebody explain it to me. |
Really, who are you fooling. That was always your intention. By the way, whose God should the democratic party serve. My God or your God? |
Ugh, this made me sick b/c there was obviously NOT a 2/3 majority!
I completely reject that God is a part of our national identity, and I thought my home was with the Democratic party. This is just one more example of the crazy, wacko religious Right pushing Dems towards the right to keep up. |
I thought this exercise in PC was ridiculous, but nowhere near as significant as the hyper pro-life position espoused by the GOP platform.
I did think Villaraigosa was pretty inventive, taking the vote until he was certain two-thirds had voted for it -- cumulatively. |
I wanted to throw things at my TV this morning when the R commentators were babbling on about Israel. Really? Does no one remember 2000 when they were all up in arms over Lieberman?
Come on Stewart and Colbert - roll tape! |
And yet I heard Democrats bragging that their platform was tougher toward Iran's nuculear ambitions than the Republicans. Certainly Obama in 2008 was tougher toward Iran than Hillary was, and both were plenty tough talking back then. |
The argument that the democratic is anti-God and anti-Jewish can now be made. The true colors of a constituency can be seen by their majority vote in the video. |
Please explain to me why God is absolutely necessary in a party platform. We aren't a theocracy. God isn't in the Constitution. Our founding fathers were not all highly religious, no matter what the idiots try to tell you - and guess what? I learned that in a Catholic school.
I'm sorry, but this is BULLSHIT. I'm not anti-God, but I am tired of this "you must always talk about God or you aren't a true American" mindset. |
Im a dem and while I felt not mentioning god was more of an effort to counter the jesus thumping on the right more than anything (and I disagree with the move in general. We need to realize we have religious people in the party just the same as we have non-believers), I think the move was a total cave.
Not only was it a cave, the entire process to amend the platform was an embarrassment. Stick to your damn guns or dont make the original call at all. And it sounds like the "nays" had it all three times meaning it should have gone to a delegate vote but that would have looked even worse. Bottom line, the party caved (again) and this is what bothers me most about the party sometimes. They go out on a limb on issues (even ones I may disagree with) and cave over pressure. Obama does that nonsense and so did our leaders in congress when we ran things. and no im not changing my vote. just venting on how stupid this episode was |
Yeah, they would kick Thomas Jefferson and John Adams out. Those two men definitely did their best to make sure that this country was not a theocracy. |
Umm, wrong PP - Obama was talking engagement in 2008 and Hillary slammed him for it. Never mind, it's all water under the bridge now and neither Obama's engagement or Hillary's sanctions have gotten us any closer to a solution on Iran. And btw Romney talks a lot tougher, but I guarantee you that in office he will pursue effectively the same policy toward Tehran as Obama has. Truth is that Iran presents a lousy problem with no clear or easy way to resolve it. Forgive the hijack here. Back to the usual programming. I thought that platform discussion was an embarassment to all of us. I can see why they wanted to add the language (even if I don't agree with the substance, it's good politics.) But once you're in a situation where the process has gone awry (e.g., nothing close to 2/3 support in a voice vote), don't try to deny reality on national TV. Really really badly handled. |
Yeah, those nazis ![]() haha j/k |
Hmmm, anyone find it interesting that right after the Dems removed "God" from the wording (and booed "God"), they had to move Obama's speech inside for fear of lightening?!? Ha ha ha ha haa ha. . .
