It hit Mississippi also. Also, a deeply republican state with a repub gov. |
I don't think you've been to the Gulf states because the people that get deeply affected are your precious "99% voting for obama" bloc. Sooo... I don't know. |
How is leaving the word God out of a party platform alienating people? Honestly, they should have just left it out instead of forcing it back in. THIS is a religious litmus test forced on parties.
Guess what? The first amendment gives you what you want - the freedom to practice religion as you choose. If we all remember our history, part of the reason people set sail for the new world was freedom to practice religions the state didn't allow. The party platform is about what government policies the party endorses. Separation of Church and State? Not ringing a bell? God doesn't actually belong in there because God has nothing to do with how the government functions. |
People stealing? Nonetheless, taking advantage of a natural disaster when others are looking the other way, to take items that do not belong to them? Yeah, I don't feel sorry for that one bit. |
Jeff, Jeff, Jeff, you know that comment was not funny yet you lower yourself to comment. I know you have the intelligence to raise the level of this debate and not simply react. you are better than that, Jeff! First they came for the socialists, and I didn't speak out because I wasn't a socialist. Then they came for the trade unionists, and I didn't speak out because I wasn't a trade unionist. Then they came for the Jews, and I didn't speak out because I wasn't a Jew. Then they came for me, and there was no one left to speak for me. |
Can someone provide a quick update??
I'm at work but saw a snippet that God, Jesus, Jews and Israel are all in... so God's OK now? |
"The media likes to talk about how the Christian right has hijacked the Republican party, but why not apply a similar standard to the other side? The convention is proof-positive the secular left has overtaken the Democratic party."

Obviously, the secular left failed in its takeover. Pity. |
No one has answered my earlier question about how exactly leaving out one word from a party platform alienates people...
Not allowing folks to practice their religion, THAT would be alienating people. No one is suggesting that... Religion doesn't belong in governance, period. It is an empty, hollow gesture as far as I am concerned. If we wanted a religious government, our ancestors would have stayed in England, dumbasses. |
Hope you're right. I would have thought that Saddam also presented a lousy problem with no clear or easy way to resolve it and Bush went ahead and invaded anyway - even though there were no WMD and no convincing evidence that there might be. But I pray you're right, pp! |
I said it before but I'll say it again. God didn't want Donald Trump to speak! God can't stand him! |
Where do you see anyone getting up on stage and saying anything about the non-existence of god? All we are asking is that irrelevant issues not be brought in. There is no moral equivalence between the guy banging on your head and you asking him to stop banging. |
We already HAVE a secular government. Our nation is supposed to be secular. Did you miss that part of civics?? No marching needed. Practice religion in church, and in your daily life. By all means carry out actions based on your religious beliefs and vite based on your religious beliefs. But the actual practice of government and electing people, writing platforms, etc should be secular. |
