men throw peanuts at CNN black camerawoman and say, "this is how we feed the animals!"

Big liberal dem here. Don't condemn an entire party because of one or two asses. (Remember Hilary Rosen and "she never worked a day in her life"?) It's not fair to paint an entire party because one or two people make stupid comments.

Now I'm the first to condemn the Repubs for all the anti-reproductive freedom stuff, but that's a clear pattern of legislative behavior. While I don't see the Repubs as being welcoming to minorities, I don't think that peanut throwing is typical Repub behavior, either.

Be careful about condeming because god only knows what asinine move someone might make at OUR convention next week. Heck if the Repus were smart they'd send a couple of moles and do something to make us look awful. Burn a bible on to convention floor or something.

For some reason, I don't believe you are a big liberal dem.

Hilary Rosen was right. 5 kids, worth about $150MM (give or take a few million), staff of 5. I stayed home - 2 kids, worked my ass off doing laundry and cooking!

Well you are wrong. I'm all for jumping all over the Repubs for the things that are actually objectionable about their platform, and there are PLENTY. A couple of jerks on the floor of the RNC doesn't make the list with me. I am much more concerned about legitimate rape and wanding and tax cuts for the rich while we haggle about who gets food stamps. Stay focused, people.

+1

This is just stuff already-committed Democrats will get mad about.

There is no wanding, too much maddow will make you paranoid

There is no wanding because women spoke up and made such a huge stink that VA Gov Bob McDonnell had no choice but to remove it from the bill. The state of Va DID try to wand its citizens. I have an email from the author of the bill explaining to me that it's really not a big deal if the govt says you have to be wanded, since Planned Parenthood often wands patients anyway. see, Repubs often have a problem with distinguishing the important differences between vaginal penetration by consent, and vaginal penetration without consent, and the grey area in-between during which the penetration may not be "forcible" enough. See the recent Akin rape controversy.

Frankly, Rosen's words were taken out of context. Ann Romney has no idea what a working mom endures every single day. Ann Romney, with her billions of dollars, has no clue what a SAHM endures every day while balancing the check book, running errands, cleaning house, putting the baby to nap, washing clothes and cooking dinner. Someone did all of those things for Ann Romney. I am not mad at her, but she has no clue what the typical American mother encounters on a day-to-day basis whether WOH, WAH, or SAH.

The actions of the GOP members were not taken out of context. It was what it was, a reflection of what many in the party believes. Those individuals just happen to act it out in public in front of a camera crew. Not very bright. The repub usually do it surreptitiously. I think that the likes of the tea-party and minute men have embolden more of them to share their racist, sexist, xenophobic views in the light.

I agree with the "Big Liberal Dem".

Im a dem myself (not big liberal though) but the RNC kicked these idiots out the convention and to my knowledge the party isnt trying to "explain" this episode as somewhat acceptable. Even more, the party isnt doing the nanny nanny booboo bullshit both parties tend to do in pointing out an example where someone got kicked out the DNC convention for doing something offensive.

A takeaway I get from this is that I wish the party would do more of this in terms of ridding itself of more idiots like these convention goers in their party. Too many times the GOP panders and explains away behavior like this and get all out of sorts when called out on it.

End of the day, the RNC did right here.

I mostly agree. But when you create a climate where it is acceptable to ridicule asked on race - and by that I mean racist emails passed back and forth between party officials about Obama - eventually someone who had a few too many at the bar steps over the next line.

BLD here, on the issue of race, I'd be much more concerned and highlighting efforts at voter suppression than some peanut throwing jerks. We need to be much, much more worried at people who want to LEGISLATE their sexism, homophobia and racism all over the rest of us.

BLD, I have to produce an identification card to purchase a pair of jean shorts for my DC recently. Is this consumer suppression?

Voting is a right protected by the constitution. Buying shorts is not a protected right. The bar necessary to do one should not be the same in both cases. Moreover, you could have chosen to pay cash and would not have needed an identification card.

The issue is not simply the requirement for an ID card, but the type of IDs allowed. In many cases, photo IDs that individuals have are not allowed. One example in some cases is a student ID from a university. Most of us have driver's licenses. But, elderly folks who don't drive have probably let theirs expire. It is very clear that these laws will prevent legitimate voters from voting. It is not clear that they will prohibit illegitimate voters from voting since that is not a demonstrated problem. How many people are you willing to deprive of their constitutional rights in order to combat a non-existant problem simply because you recently purchased shorts?
