Was there ever an answer to this question?

In most states, if you are already paying child support, you will have to continue regardless of whether the kid is yours or not.
If you refuse the courts will ignore your protests. You can move to Georgia, the one state that will let you out of payments on those grounds

There was an article about this in the New York Times magazine a few years ago. Yes courts will sometime make the father keep paying.

(not the OP) I'll put this out to the audience to see if anybody has heard of an instance of getting back the payments that have already been made. I would suggest forgetting about seeing those dollars again.

Likewise, it would be ill advised to stop paying unless the court tells you to stop paying. Keep writing the checks and cut another fat one for a lawyer. He/she will be able to tell you about the (probably expensive and time-consuming) process of disestablishing paternity (if it is possible after 11 years).

Sorry, but the process is pretty f-d up. Rest assured that the only person more screwed by this whole thing than you will be the kid.

Ugh what a jack ass for wanting to get back the child support he's already paid. Poor kid.

You will not get child support payments back, but you might get out of paying for the future.
The cost of getting out of future payments might be so expensive that maybe it is not worth it.

Those saying 'poor kid' have a guilty conscience for sleeping with the neighbors husband

That was one of the questions in the OP:

Anonymous wrote: If so what are his chances of getting back the money he has paid to the mother of the said child.
