Fairfax county and moco have the best schools... http://www.usnews.com/education/best-high-schools/virginia http://www.usnews.com/education/best-high-schools/maryland |

Rosslyn is boring. It sucks--it's just a walkway to Georgetown. To experience Arlington you need to move up to Courthouse/Clarendon/ballston.
I've lived in both Bethesda and Arlington--chose to raise family in Clarendon area. There is a much greater stock of SFHs very close to heart of city/action vs Bethesda. Arlington is also very family centered, very green-minded county. It is also much quicker to downtown DC. |
| In Bethesda, your state tax dollars go to support Baltimore; in Arlington, theo go to build roads in Westbumfuck for christian conservatives. Other than that, very little discernible difference. |

Better in state colleges in Virginia
More Jews in Bethesda No Harris Teeter in Bethesda |
Don't try and change your man. |
| 8:55 - You hit it on the nose! |
| I find Bethesda to be prettier and more upscale. The public schools are comprable, but Bethesda is better if you may want to do private one day as there are more privates in Bethesda or nearby in upper NW. Otherwise, the two areas aren't that different. We chose MoCo over NoVa for no particular reason other than we think it's a nicer area. We've been very happy there. |
| Not enough of a difference to move |
US News rankings are not what people should be using to judge high schools. |
| We were choosing and stayed in Arlington for much better commute, better taxes, well run small county. Only point I agree is orange line slightly more geared to 20s. But a million families in Lyon park where we are and everything so close, easy to get to. Would not judge Arlington by Roselyn thou |

One is in VA.
One is in MD. Not much difference other then that... |
| Arlington on the whole is more walkable than Bethesda, which is bisected by large pedestrian unfriendly streets like East West Highway or River Road. |
I don't find E-W Highway hard to cross at all. River Road runs through more suburban parts of Bethesda, just like Lorcom Lane in Arlington. While Arlington is a slap-dash mess, Bethesda has style. I can understand why OP may feel she's outgrown Arlington. |
Va State schools are nto what they once were, the Jews create a great tax base and a Harris Teeter is going in at the intersection of Wisconsin and Battery, |
|
Bethesda has a more international population.
