| Can you really convert to Judaism? Aren't they the Chosen People? This is a serious question, I'm not mocking you. |
I usually like to pick the stupidest thing I read a day and share it with friends. Easy winner! I think this should hold me for a few days. |
Thank you for that well thought out and insightful comment on the practice of converting to Judaism. I feel informed. |
I didn't get the memo that I was your personal Google. if you want information on converting to Judaism, why don't you try looking for it, and not just being an ass on DCUM. Or was bored Christian housewife class cancelled today? |
No one was forcing you to answer my question. You didn't even have to leave a mean spirited reply, believe it or not. I'm smiling at your last comment because I'm not Christian or even a woman, so thanks. I was always under the impression that Judaism was almost the exact opposite of evangelical Christianity-they couldn't care less about converting people. But I'm obviously uninformed. |
Not that PP but you sound like a real a$$. And I love that you assume she's Christian and toss in a gratuitous religion-based insult. Yes, Jewish bigots do exist, and you're proof. |
NP here. Somehow I don't think you posted such potentially inflammatory stuff because you were seeking information. |
Didn't you watch Sex and the City? Yes, you can convert to Judaism. However, I don't think the man the OP is talking about actually converted - his mom was Jewish so he was always a Jew. |
And I love that you all assume that I'm Jewish. |
|
Yes, you can covert to Judaism. Jews don't look for converts, but if someone comes with a honest interest in the religion, there is a conversion process. The Torah (Old Testament) accounts for conversion and requires converts to be treated as well as, if not better than, those who are born Jewish.

Thank you. |
| Actually it's pretty hard to convert to Judaism. It's an involved process for sure and requires a significant amount of time and education. |
If DCUM was a religion, the planet would be doomed. |
We have good friends who just converted to Orthodox Judaism - husband, wife and 2 y.o. plus baby in utero. It took them approx 1.5 years of study. Prior to their interest in Judaism, they were proselytizing on the Vegas strip for Jesus and planning to open a fundamentalist church. |
| And why does he go to a Unitarian church if he is Jewish? |
