But you don't really care as long as Johnny is happy, he can join the circus if he wants to and you would be totally supportive, as should the parents of the totally average children..... |
| I think if Jeff had a separate forum for AAP threads, the whole VA public school forum would wither and die. AAP is all anyone here ever wants to talk about. |
so do you think my FSIQ 141 and GBRS 10 will get me (I mean my kid) in or not? |
Hahaha! I was thinking the exact same thing. I am sure Jeff knows this as well. If you think the AAP thing is bad, there is some mothering website that has a dedicated gifted forum. The funny thing is that most of the posters, at least 60%, are moms of infants and toddlers who are posting about their gifted children, how they can't imagine how the future schools are going to be able to educate their 12 month old, etc. The youngest "gifted" child that a mom posted about was around 6 months old. So it could be much worse (or better) depending on how much amusement you get from these types of posts. |
|
PP here. I take that back. They now have a mom of a 3 month old posting about her daughter being gifted.
Trolls, be gentle if you find this forum. They have very, very involved and aggressive moderators. It is more of a read and enjoy, but do not respond type of experience. |
But the DC Public Schools forum and the MD Public School forum exists, and they talk about other stuff. I know, because I go there when VA is filled with nothing but AAP talk! I get it's a hot topic for some parents, but I just feel that it's not exactly accurate to call it "VA Public Schools" if the one and ONLY reason you are here is to compare notes and talk stats and strategies for getting in AAP. |
Of course it is simply nonsense, since your kid didn't make the cut. AAP would be the best thing ever if you could prep your kid's way in. |
What is this site? I need a good laugh once in a while... |
Is your son in SSAAP? (Super Secret AAP??) My kiddo got a GBRS or 121. The highest ever given to a child in FFX County. |
I just went to it! That was good for a laugh. The 3 month old that can accurately point out facial features when asked cracked me up! |
Thanks for posting this! I needed some humor for an early Saturday morning.

| This is great! I've been waiting for this subject to go away for months and it still keeps coming back. I'm one of the few I guess who is actually interested in other parts of the school systems besides AAP so I'd still post if it got it's own gifted students (and toddlers) subgroup. |
| I just heard they sell CogAt prep tests! I am horrified! I would never prep my genius. We should report the company selling the test. What was that company's name? Anyone? |
The name of the company is Shut the Hell Up. We are sick of your sad sarcasm and angry rants. |
