Dump the holey college gear

Anonymous
OP, not to bring up race (but only because it is specific to my question). Is your sorority a black sorority? Because I have many friends who still wear their frat gear because they are still very active. BTW, DW and I went to Harvard and UVA for grad school. I still wear some of my undergrad gear and I graduated 22 years ago. Mainly for school spirit (big Football and Basketball school)

I wear my college hoodie out and about sometimes. and I have a bunch of tshirts but really just wear them to sleep in. My husband also wears his hoodie and sometimes a cap.

My husband wears his college and grad school T-shirts mostly on game days since he still is a fan of the teams (big state schools). I, on the other hand, never owned a college item of clothing in my life- it would have been very uncool when I was in college.

I think the obvious gist of this thread is a brag fest for where you went to school, not whether you get rid of old "spirit wear".

and this is why I love DCUM, never disappoints

I have a zippie that I wear with the name of my alma mater but it is new and not holey. I also wear tshirts etc on gamedays.

Thank goodness, I was just about to say the same thing about my Penn State gear! I am 10 years out though. I don't wear it to the mall, but I certainly wear it on game days and lounging around the house.

14 years out and not only do my husband and I still wear our PSU t-shirts on game days, but so do our kids!

OP here. No, this thread was really about spirit wear and whether parents push their love of their alma mater on their kids. I would love for my kid to go to UVA, but I've never mentioned it to him. But right after I hit, submit, I said to myself, somebody's gonna say I just wanted to brag about DH's school. But I only brought up schools b/c I was wondering if people from some schools are more fanatical about it than those from other schools.

But oh BTW, why is it that if you went to a highly regarded school and you happen to mention the name, you're bragging. I think that's why DH'S never tells people where he went to school - not even in professional settings where it would be appropriate - not unless someone asks him directly. I dont see what the big deal is - esp on DCUM. How could it possibly be bragging when it's anonymous.

I have one sorority t-shirt left and I wear it as a nightshirt. It is so well washed, soft and comfy. I love it.

I do have a sweatshirt and a workout t-shirt from law school. Both were fairly recent purchases.

DD has had shirts or t-shirts from both my and DH's alma maters.

21:46 here. My family are all sports enthusiasts and we all have gear from our universities to wear on game days or just bumming around the house.

Our kids have gear with both of our schools on it. The most worn item by my DDs is a fleece from my grad school because it is cosy (passed down from the older to the younger). We actually go to DH's undergrad with the kids for one sporting event a year with friends. When there, the kids wear gear and get face painting. That is driving distance while my schools are on the west coast and neither I nor my college/grad school friends follow the sports teams. If it was a flight, we probably would not go every year.

Just under ten yrs out of undergrad. I have kept a few sorority tees for fun (no I am not in the black sorority, I know what you mean about them being obsessed for far too long). DH and I both went to Gtown grad school and kids have been too many many gtown bb games. DS is obsessed and thinks gtown is great. We don't care where he goes to college
