" fled to Israel with the help of his father, Sol Sheinbein, an attorney who held dual citizenship in the United States and Israel. Sol Sheinbein was later charged with obstruction of justice and disbarred by the District of Columbia Court of Appeals.[15] Once in Israel, Sheinbein applied for and received Israeli citizenship (As a Jew and as the son of an Israeli national, Sheinbein was eligible for automatic Israeli citizenship). Sheinbein then rented a hotel room, where he abused drugs, drank, and hired a prostitute. After being hospitalized for a drug overdose, Sheinbein was arrested.[16] Aaron Needle hanged himself in his jail cell shortly after his arrest in January 1998." http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Samuel_Sheinbein |
My sister is a millionaire. She's never given me a dime, nor have I expected her to. And while that section of Petworth is a nice place to live--I've been there 6 years--most 19 year olds who could afford to live somewhere else would. |
Sorry... The boy is mentally challenged. Yes he has two famous football brothers, but the brothers did not show up in court. They are obviously not supporting the brother so bringing up that he has money or the family has money, is not relevant. |
| It's great that you have convicted this kid and are deciding on the death penalty less than 48 hours after he was arrested. Based only on media reports. You are really gullible. |

Thanks for the scheinbein post pp, I remember that from when it happened!
Still find it completely unbelievable, and can't really figure out why it hasn't been given more attention over the years. I wonder if Brittany Norwoods family had shuttled her off to another country if people would be more angry about it? |
Because I think it is a troll post, that OP was baiting us with the unnecessary "rich" remark. He was trying to bait us in the hope that we would jump on his imagined income. Then he comes back and says "If I wrote 'premeditated meaningless murder via hammer by a black kid' you would have all called me racist". I do not think that race or income had much to do with the crime. I think it has everything to do with the intent of OP's post. |
I disagree, PP. It is relevant, at least to the extent that it reflects poorly on the brothers in the NFL. Presumably, their's are rags-to-riches stories about being lifted out of poverty in a society that offers many opportunities to be lifted out of poverty. What do they do with that wealth? Do they take care of their own? Do they get their mentally ill brother the doctors and medication he mostly likely needs? No, they abandon him, allowing him to prey on the innocent. |
|
this is the OP, trust me the post had nothing to do with race. not sure why that even came up. I assume most of the victims were black.
I just think it a horrible crime - to be walking along the street innocently and have someone hit you with a friggin hammer for no reason???? and I do think wealth is a factor. this kid had lots of opportunity in life, very sad story and I hope he rots in jail. |
| I believe a news article quoted someone as saying the perpetrator was mentally unstable. Monied brothers can't prevent that. |
|
I am curious, how do you people extrapolate that this kid is:
1) mentally impaired; 2) has had every opportunity in life, 3) automatically rich because brothers are NFL players, 4) brothers are millionaires because they play in the NFL, 5) every NFL player is an instant millionaire by virtue of playing in the NFL, 6) that family has failed to provide any support to this family member in the past, 7) that this particular brother is a close brother or simply a brother in name only by virtue of sharing the same father or mother, but no real connectionto this individual accept in name only. I must admit, DCUM is full of imagination. Together, I bet you could all write awesome fiction novels. |
| Well some of that is easy enough. The mayor said he has a mental condition, his brothers contracts are public knowledge, and they used to show up at his games when he played in college. |
| Does it even say what area this teen lived in? |
Who also hasn't been here that long. http://www.nbcwashington.com/news/local/Homicide-in-Petworth-101263349.html |
This is the only extrapolation I, personally, have made. And the reason I think the kid is mentally troubled is, he hit total strangers on the head with a hammer in the broad daylight. Either insane or high on something like PCP. |
For six years I've lived just five blocks from the murderer, and I've always walked everywhere. This is far from an everyday occurrence. |
