Induced two weeks early because of preeclampsia. I was 1 cm before anything, 2-3 cm after a few hours after a pill was inserted into my cervix, then the pitocin started, water broken by the doctor a few hours after that, and gave birth both vaginally and without an epidural six hours later. |
Induced 13 days overdue, 1cm dialated, not effaced at all. Baby never descended - ended up w/a c-section. Also - DB was 9lbs 10oz. |
OP here - thanks for all the responses! |
induced with DS #2, vaginal delivery |
I was induced at 6 days post due date for partial rupture of membranes. I had a vaginal delivery - no problems whatsoever. |
Same as 1806, here: induced at 38w4d for no amniotic fluid, 15 hr labor from start of induction to vaginal delivery, no problems. My advice: EVENING PRIMROSE OIL!!! Gets the cervix soft and ready. Recommended by my midwife. |
Regarding evening primrose oil -- I have been taking a caplet each night for the past week or so, but I wonder whether that's enough. Should I take more? And is taking it orally sufficient? I read on the internet about, ahem, inserting it, but I haven't wanted to try that yet... |
My doula recommended inserting one in the evening after you are full term. |
induced- vaginal delivery- zero complications |
Water broke 38 weeks exactly. 1 cm, 100% effaced the day before water broke, baby was fully engaged. No contrax so induced w/ pitocin. FAST vaginal delivery. |
Water broke with no contractions. Started pitocin and delivered vaginally 30 hours later with 20 mins pushing. |
Induced at 37 wks due to high BP, already about 2-3 cm dialated. Gave birth vaginally 2.5 hrs later w/ no epidural. Pitocin did suck though! |
I was wondering what the stats were, and found this:
from Canada: "About 30 percent of first-time mothers who are induced end up having a C-section," says Dr. Robert Liston, head of the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology at C & W. And a McMaster University study reported, "Induction of labour is currently the most important correctable predictor of C-section." (http://www.readersdigest.ca/mag/2001/06/caesareans.html) and this: Induction linked to doubling of cesarean rate in nulliparas OB/GYN News, Jan 1, 2003 by Betsy Bates RANCHO MIRAGE, CALIF. -- The cesarean delivery rate doubled when nulliparous women were induced in a large community hospital system, Dr. David P. Johnson reported at the annual meeting of the Pacific Coast Obstetrical and Gynecological Society. The C-section rate was especially high, 31.5%, among nulliparous patients who were induced despite an unfavorable cervix, defined as having a Bishop score at induction of <5. I was induced on my due date (expectation of very large baby). Just FYI: induction doesn't always put you into labor. Somehow I missed that warning. Pitocin didn't work; neither did cervadil. Eventually (the next day) an MD broke my water and that did the trick. Vaginal delivery, no problem. 9.5 lb. baby. |
