I was down to GW and Shady Grove and chose GW due to their flexibility, absolutely unfailingly kind, attentive and responsive staff, and the ability to move on to low stim/natural cycle IVF if I don't respond well to meds.
I would say either is fine. GW's stats last year were pretty bad, which gives me pause, but they do not turn anyone away. I also wonder if the natural cycle IVF lowers their stats, since it is less successful per cycle. For someone young like you (sounds like you're young?), a low stim IVF may be enough to get you that baby! |
| OP here... To 11:00 - Yes, we are 30/31. Thanks for all of the information! I am leaning towards GW because I like the idea of NCIVF and have been really happy with my doctors there (in the Ob/Gyn dept), but there is just so much to learn and so many options, plus the low stats really give me pause. |
| Look up the SART stats. I pay out of pocket & just wouldn't go to GW. I have had great success at Columbia w/ dr Rifka. You need to also explore FET stats & consider whether that will play into your cost analysis. I decided vs natural cyce bc w/ a regular ivf cycle, I would likely be able to have something to freeze & have more chances w/o having to do another cycle. A FET is cheaper & a breeze if the first cycle doesn't work. |

New poster here. Don't let the stats of GW throw you off - those stats can be manipulated by clinics who only take "sure thing" sort of cases. SG is just damn good at what they do which is why their stats are so good, but GW takes everyone and really does what patients ask, regardless of "success rates." I found other clinics push you into where the success rate is highest, regardless of how you feel.
I think you can't go wrong with GW or SG. I can't speak about CFA other than to say that Dr. Sacks is the only one there who gets consistent good reviews - but you need a practice where all the docs will be well-versed in your case. I have a friend who is with Sacks and felt like she couldn't get a straight (or valid) answer from other docs at CFA so she had to wait for him to return from his 2 week vacation. Not a good spot to be in, not that that happens everyday, but it is something to consider. SG and GW can pick up the ball in the absence of another doc a lot easier than I believe CFA can. |
