Wetting the bed as an adult

Call me crazy, but since you cancelled your insurance, have a preexisting condition and didn't move to another plan, aren't you screwed? You won't be able to get insurance now -- am I wrong?

OP here. I will be getting married next year, at which point I can go on my spouse's insurance. Otherwise, yeah, I probably would be. There are high-risk insurance pools for people in my situation but they are crazy expensive and don't cover the pre-existing condition for a period of time.

I would recommend you get a letter from your previous carrier that states you were covered. You'll need that if you ever want to be covered again for your pre-existing conditions.

OP, urgent care clinics often have a reasonable cash-customer charge. Or, you could talk to your primary care physician if you had one before, and explain your situation and ask for a cash-customer visit. This needs to be addressed.

The only time adult bed wetting is a problem is if the woman also has a chin full of unsightly chin hair.

My DH has done this on a few occasions. It seems to have coincided with a really stressful situation. He's also a very heavy sleeper which I don't think helps.

Is that a joke, or is there some correlation?

Honestly, OP, I'd go to the courthouse this week and get married to get on his insurance now. Also, our company has 'partner' insurance plans - if you live with someone they will cover your partner.

This happened to me about 2 weeks ago. I am a very heavy sleeper, and I was dreaming that I was on the toilet peeing (had a full bladder as well). I peed just a small amount and immediately woke up. My underwear was wet but not the sheets. I don't feel this particular incident points to any kind of medical condition, I was just dreaming I was peeing and actually peed. This has happened to me once before when I was about 22. But in that incident I peed all over the bed. Anyhow, I do not plan to seek medical treatment for this, it was just a one time thing and I was dreaming that I was peeing at the same time. If it happens again I may check it out.

OP again. I am also a heavy sleeper. I've never had a UTI that I am aware of but will start with getting tested for that.

Have you given birth in the last year, or had twins etc.? Your muscles could have weakened over time and you are beginning to experience incontinence. Also, try not drinking a few hours before bedtime. That is why they tell you to do keagel (sp?) exercises.

You can buy over the counter UTI tests.

I've done it a couple times when I had a UTI. It was always a very vivid dream of needing to go to the bathroom, sitting on the toilet, and damn the toilet was only in my dream!

yep-this. i assume you aren't planning some super fancy wedding since you can't even afford health insurance, so go for it! my dh and i eloped. long engagements aren't a requirement for marriage.

I thought obama made it illegal to discriminate based on preexisting conditions? At any rate maybe go to the webMD or mayoclinic websites to get more info before dropping money on a doctor. There are Zoomcare and other walk in clinics you can go to that are much cheaper than your PCP. I've rarely had insurance as an adult, costs too much and covers nothing until you pay a huge deductible and then covers 80 percent or whatever. I'd rather put that money in an HAS.

Not OP, but I wonder how likely it is that an urgent care clinic or primary care doctor can get to the bottom of this in one visit. Sure, urine and blood tests can rule out some issues, but what's the next step if these don't turn anything up?

Not to discourage OP, because I think it would be good to get this checked out. Parents need to take care of their health for their children's sake. So I do think it's worth the ill-timed investment.

Do not go uninsured. Go down to the courthouse and get married. You don't have to tell anyone, even your parents, if you still want to have a traditional wedding. Your partner does not love you enough to marry if he or she won't help you protect your health.
