Because the sheer inanity of the questions people ask often leaves me nearly speechless. Luckily for those half-wits, not quite speechless.
Honestly, how dumb do you have to be to ask some of things that go on here? Answer: very. |
I'm sure your kids will grow up to be very happy, self-actualized adults! Bon chance! Anyway, my personal theory is that we're all sleep-deprived, and have to be incredibly patient with our children, our spouses, and our children's caretakers and teachers. All of that frustration and impatience has to come out somewhere. Where? Endless tribal warfare on an anonymous internet forum. Better than going on a sniper spree! |
| Sarcasm and wit are great. So are differences of opinion. Yeah some people are outright rude but others are too easily offended or hurt. It would be a pretty boring board if every post was - oh you were right, I was wrong, and no you are the most awesome poster ever, no you are, no you are. |
| Here's my arm chair analysis. I think some people get a release and even a high from being shitty to others. It makes them feel powerful. They can't unleash their anger at Big 3 school for saying little Darling isn't keeping up because if you become to difficult a parent they might just show you the door. They can't get pissed at their superiors because they are trying to make partner in the firm or what have you. Or they were fired from a job, dumped by a spouse, or they have no life at all and they just need someone to kick to get back/feel powerful/or just get a high from being mean. Some people take adversity and grow from it, and others become bitter and mean. |
| 19:56 Well said. |

Some posters think they are just so witty and hilarious, and DCUM provides a golden opportunity for them to share their amazing sarcasm and wit with the rest of the us.
Lucky us, because usually these posters are morons. Case in point -- somebody mentioned a Cedar Rapids poster calling her paranoid. I know that thread, and I actually accused the poster (wherever she's from) who was calling everybody paranoid of having mistaken ideas about how witty she is.... |
| 19:56 - YUP. In other words, they are peon do nothings and boy are they pissed! When I see someone so entitled, irate or mean, it brings to light how short they have come up in life. Sorry for them, but it is not my problem. Don't come near me with it, lest you meet the WRATH! |
OK, fair enough. But just a thought - if some anonymous peon can get you so worked up and WRATHFUL, doesn't that say something about your own level of self-confidence? Just saying.... |
| I'm just glad somebody finally brought this up. |
Yes, because no one has decried snarkiness on DCUM before.
|
| Because they're bitches. Or man-bitches, if you're in the political forum. |
|
Because a lot of the posters seem so epically stupid/ignorant/fatuous that I can't control myself.
I'm nice when "niceness" is warranted. |
Maybe part of the problem are posters who are frustrated with idiots who don't recognize sarcasm in the first place. Irony, anyone? |
LOL. |
