Is this for real? College Gardens Elementary horror story.

So there was a bullying incident in 2008 and a child got a finger caught in the door this week..and we are discussing this why?
Anonymous
Technically.. how a child could have a finger or fingers stuck in the door?

Has it been smashed or cut off or something? That just sounds "bit" odd. Never heard of anthing quite like it. What are the odds. How did it happen? I was just reading reviews for this school - moving back to MCo next year from 5 year job-related transfer and our kids would be attending there. Would appreciate more info. Are there are any out of normal range bulling accidents going around.

Chikren get fingers caught in doors all the time (all type of doors). Simply visit any ER to get the underreported number of these accidents. What does this have to do with bullying? No facts here so pure fantasy.

Interesting point. I need to check it.

I work at the ER and at school- not really. How serious was the case?

I don't work at school, I work at the ER and never heard of such a case happening at local schools or otherwise. Just to clarify.

Really..a door getting closed on a hand or a finger getting caught between the door frame and the door...seems like a common injury... I don't know the extent of the injury but the situation seems common. Of course there has been absolutely no detail provided by the poster. If fingers were servered..I would be concerned.. If an ambulance was called as a precaution..wouldn't give it a seond thought.. Without any additional information I am still not concerned about bullying at the school.

I think that boy's finger actually got servered. I am sure your school will do everything to inform the parents
about the accident and the circumstances. Also I would expect they will let parents know what to do to
prevent from further accidents happening in the future.

When Maclaren stroller cut off baby finger they recalled all strollers of all models. Can we recall the s chool?

Unfortunately MCPS does not recall bad principals.

I am surprised a child having fingers severed at school wasn't in the news! How many fingers did the child lose?

Our school system does not like reporting such incidents. A child was bitten by a dog in my school about two years ago and everybody was expected to keep quiet.

They are reported when emergency response is called to the school...Police, fire, ambulance.

My child had that happen at his preschool actually. His finger was broken. We pulled him from the preschool the next day. The ER actually told us it was a very common injury. We felt it was lack of supervision issue.

( this is a very long story and a long time ago, child in question is now 10.)

Are we certain that a child's finger was actually severed? So far, all I've read here is a bunch of speculation.
