what do you all mean by every school failed? What report are you referring to? AYP in both categories?

And Oyster

Then why does Oyster have I2 status for both reading and math?

Schools that made AYP:

Brent
Francis-Stevens
Janney
Key
Mann
Oyster-Adams

Schools where the total school population made AYP, but there were 1 or more failing subgroups. The number following school name is number of failing subgroups, tallied once for math and once for reading. (eg., 2 may be black for reading and black for math, or may mean black for reading, and Econ Dis for reading, no failing groups for math)

Eaton - 1
Hyde-Addison -1
Lafayette - 3
Murch -1
Shepherd -2
Stoddert -4

That's a total of 12 elementary schools where the school population as a whole is passing.

Have not looked at charters yet.

Brent is winning via gentrification. Last year 61% of the test takers were poor. This year only 38% were... That said, Brent hasn't been erasing to the top, so they should be proud. Jo wilson and ludlow taylor seem to be missing their erasers.

Not sure and I don't have a child at Oyster, just noted that it made AYP according to OSSE. What does I2 status even mean? I looked at the percentage scores and more than 85% of students scored proficient or advanced.

The list of nos far exceeds the yeses. Do we really think NO teaching/learning is happening in so many schools? And now they will all dance to the test even more, as it means they can be taken over / restructured. No Child Left Behind is a great idea/terrible law. Time to reform the law, not the schools.

This is not surprising. The standard what percentage of students need to make proficient to make AYP goes up every year. In a few years, no school will make AYP.

I agree, the benchmarks to make AYP are ridiculous considering all the outside issues that teachers have to deal with. Yes, there are some bad teachers, but I don't think the majority are the problem.

I'm curious, looking at my kid's school the percentages are broken down by ethnicity, but the only ethnic group that's shown is "Black/Non-Hispanic". Not to put to fine a point on it, but how are we supposed to know how well the white kids are doing?

Go to the link, then click "Summary School Data" on the left side. Next, click "Improvement Status by School" on the right side. That's where the information on I1, I2, etc. is located.

Maybe there was little or no cheating this year, so scores are lower, but more accurate.

The school may not have enough white kids to report.
