Fess up -- how much TV and McDonalds

2.5 year old. Never even occurs to me to go to McDonalds. Hardly any TV (maybe a 1/2 hour on the weekend?) I'm sure it would be more if we didn't both work FT.

3.5 year old just started showing an interest in movies only. He watches about 20-30 minutes of Toy Story or Cars about three days during the week, and picks up where he leaves off. Helps me out when the 7 month old is fussy. No TV on weekends -- we are just busy. McDonalds, eh, 3-4 times a year maybe. That said, we do hit up the salad bar as a family (well, sans Daddy, since he invariably works super late) at Whole Foods. Macaroni and cheese for 3 year old and all of the out of season fruit he wants

Tv it's on all day. They arent watching as sometimes its news or other stuff and they are just playing. Mcdonalds once a week or once every two weeks.

2 y/o, both parents work FT, he watches maybe 30 mins and sometimes close to an hour in the morning while DH gets ready (DH does morning routine), and sometimes 30 minutes at night while I get dinner ready. More than I would like, but we'll work on that. Sprout (the Wiggles especially) and Baby First TV only.

We've only been to McDonalds to get the Apple Dippers (I don't even let him know about the caramel dipping sauce). I am always gratified when we drive by McD's and DS goes "Apples! Mommy, apples!"

(Kids are 5 and 3)
TV -- 5 year old gets 1-2 hours per day while 3 year old is napping. On weekends, they both watch some morning cartoons while DH and I try fruitlessly to keep sleeping. Sometimes this goes on for 2 hours.
McDs -- every other friday. We look forward to it, even me.

This is why ur fat.

TV = 0-1 hour/day (when not sick & stuck at home)

McD = 0-2 times/week (I was anti-fast food until I just had DC#2 three months ago and it's been tough to shuttle around for dc#1's activities AND prepare healthy lunches/snacks for the car)

I think the tv thing really depends on how old the children are and whether or not the parent stays home. I SAH and have a three and one year old. Three year old watchs on average four to five hours of tv a week, including weekends, and we used to eat at Mcdonalds once a week. Since the new year we've been trying to cut that back but we've been a few times over the past two months.

SAHM with a 2 year old. About 30-45 minutes of Sesame Street every day to keep her occupied before dinner. On the odd day she gets up at 5:00 am she gets to watch in the morning also, and more if she is sick and we can't go out. French fries from McDonalds maybe once a month or so - she won't eat anything else from there.

2.5yo - no McDonald's here because it grosses me out but he does he Chick-Fil-A every couple of weeks. For some reason I feel okay about that one, chicken tenders, fruit cup and milk?

TV.... ooooh, wish he had interest in it... but never ever watches it.

Are you kidding? I completely agree. Mcdonalds as a family routine? Oy.

I'm a SAHM who likes McD's coffee, so we'll often kill time at the mall- I'll have coffee, DS (18mos) will get apples (or fries if it's closer to lunch time)...probably once every 10 days or so. He doesn't really care for anything else there.

We haven't started TV yet, but after he's 2, mommy will need him to watch some TV.

dad here. my wife doesn't get McDonalds for my 3 year old daughter but I get her a hamburger there at least twice a week. She loves it. I think McDonalds is way better now than in the past - they have smoothies, oatmeal, all kinds of good stuff.

tv - at least 45 minutes to an hour a day. Dora or Wonderpets or something like that. Seems educational to me.
