Hi Deb!

Embarrassing mom===never brushes her hair, unruly wild gray hair, while eating out at restaurants may dribble food on chin and doesn't always wipe it up, points to people when talking to hit a point home, answering phone message she sounds like a third grader wasted on booze, will say to someone that has just had a baby and named their child any name other than "Ed or Doris", "what kind of name is that???!!!" I can go on and on....

My mom loves a good cry, sort of like Boehner but from the other end of the political spectrum. She does it in public all the time, including in situations like when she is discussion desegregation with the head of DC's school. I worry that people will think she's drunk, although she absolutely is not.

Your name is "Deborah, Debra" and you are called Debbie and "Debbie Downer offends you? Please! I'll begin the list of phrases (in quotes) with names we cannot use:

Dudley "Do right"

Willy "nilly"

"Silly" Billy

Casper "Milquetoast"

"Little" Annie "Fanny"

"Little" Mary "Sunshine"

Please feel free to add.

"Nervous Nellie"

Please do go on- I laughed really hard at a couple of these.

But where was she when they named Debbie? If Crazy, Embarrassing Mom was around, she'd be spared the apparent indignity of the "downer" association.

My mom's FB posts always make me think people will assume she is drunk. The family knows how she is, but I always think that other people will assume she is drinking b/c her posts are crazy funny and ridiculous. Plus, to make it worse, she writes in a combination of upper and lower case letters. It makes it hard to read and it has no relavence. My sister and I think it's equivolent to driving with your turn signal on. EXCEPT it is Very RandOM, like THIS. And she will "cry" on FB too! The worse part is, I know I'm turning into her.

Taking this back full circle, my mom went facebook crazy as well. Comments on every thing on my page. EVERYTHING. Comments on every interaction I have. Friends things I am friends with. Likes things I like (including things like my book club) so that she can see what I write on those pages. She has gone through my page and systematically friended every friend on my page, including every ex of mine (not to mention one that I am not even friends with). She is overly dramatic and writes like an escapee from the mental ward.

I love my mother very much. If she were to pass away I would miss one million things about her. But I promise you, I would not miss this.

That's why she's on limited access now.

Just remember that your momma loves you. And she will always love you like no one else will.

i'm guessing your mom's political instincts are just fine, she has lived a long time and experienced a lot, and is entitled to her opinions. trust me, when Obama's union thugs were rounding up the inner city voters, they didn't check for ivy league diplomas first. their votes count and rightly so.

GOD I hate posts like yours. "You can't be mad about your kids jumping on the bed because MY kid doesn't have LEGS!"

You are mean person. Ugly actually.

I just howled out loud, thank you PP... I've been sick in bed all day and needed a good laugh!

Thank the Lord your mother is alive. I would take another 10 minutes with mine, in any state. Seriously.

I feel for you, because I think having the name Debbie would be a total downer. Yick! Do you at least go by Deb?

Is your middle name any better and you can go by that instead? In all honestly, my cousin's name was Debbie and she REALLY thought it was a downer. It was such a downer that she had her name legally changed to Danielle. Maybe that's an option for you? It's a win-win for everyone - we get to keep using the term and you get a better name!

Please, by all means, let me know your thoughts! TIA
