What do you think about when you are trying to fall asleep at nght?

I'm not the fluoride poster, but this is what I found when I googled it.

"Sodium Fluoride comes with a variety of toxic heavy metals, therefore, it's best to tackle both for optimum results. We are being bombarded daily by heavy metals and sodium fluoride from everyday sources. Metals and fluoride are found in many personal care products (toothpaste deodorants etc), vaccines, pharmaceuticals, dental fillings, cookware, many commercial food sources (even baby formulas!), water and increasingly, air.

If you are having sleep disturbances, try a heavy metal and fluoride detox program and see what happens. Naturally, avoiding all possible sources of fluoride and heavy metals goes hand in hand with detoxing efforts"

Before sex, I think- I'm a little wound up, I wonder if sex will help me fall asleep.

After sex, I usually think - man now I will only get X.X hours of sleep. Crap. .

Then I'm out.

Yes, I'm a woman.

I am just thinking about when I fall asleep, not doing it to fall asleep. When I wake up I am still thinking about it

If it's quiet I look at the spots behind my eyes and listen to the ringing in my ears. It's kind of like meditation.

Sometimes I close my eyes and try to imagine I can see the room around me. Often I imagine I see a room that's a different size than my actual bedroom and this turns into a dream.

When DW is facing me I will watch her for a few seconds then close my eyes and try to imagine her face as she was sleeping and keep that image in my head. This is harder than it sounds!

Sometimes I will count backwards from 5 in my head, each number three times, and picture flying through or over or under each number, with each one being a different style. When I get to zero the last zero has in its middle a dark hole. Beyond that is space, and then I zoom in to the planet and picture zooming in all the way to my bedroom. Usually I'm asleep or close to it before I picture myself sleeping in the bed.

And I have more. I never realized how many sleep techniques I have!

Not the Fluoride poster either but....... Fluoride is industrial waste that is allowed to be dumped into our water. It does help strengthen enamel but studies on how it effects the body are scarce. Since Fluoride does occur naturally in some water sources (mineral name is Fluorite) there have been some observances that those with natural fluoridated water have more heart attacks. I also had a biochemist once tell me he would never drink fluoridated water because of it's chemical composition and potential ill effects on the brain.

We use fluoride toothpaste but we don't drink the water.

Falling asleep in less than ten minutes sounds like a sign of sleep deprivation to me.

You said this same thing in an insomnia post a while back.. Aside from tap water and toothpaste what has flouride in it?? I'm sorry if this was asked in the last one, I kind of lost track of that thread.

If it is a sign of sleep deprivation then I'm taking it! I never knew what real sleep felt like until I went fluoride free. That is why i try to post it whenever someone brings up insomnia.

PP, it is in everything processed. Try cutting out canned soups, reconstituted juices, etc. Try taking calcium and magnesium supplements with your meals (calcium blocks fluoride absorption). I doubt everyone has a problem with fluoride or most of the country would have insomnia, but if cutting it out of your diet helps you sleep, I guarantee you will think it worth the effort.

FYI -- I have just started loosening up a bit about the fluoride and am still sleeping well but feeling more energized during the day. Maybe my body was saturated before and now it's not. No clue....

I rearrange furniture. My house, your house, the house of the dinner party we just attended, whatever I think could use a makeover! I rarely get as far as the accessories before I'm out.

I recently read that the FDA? is re-thinking the amount flouride in water because they are finding teenagers with spots on their teeth from growing up drinking water with too much flouride in it.

I think about childhood memories and how it would be nice to back there again.

I seriously have to have a book every night...and even if I only get to a few pages or so..it does the trick. I guess it clears my mind and calms me.

Yes, me too!
And even worse: sometimes the very act of bringing the book to the bedroom and laying it next to my pillow reassures me and sends me off to sleep - I don't actually read it, but it still has a soothing effect. Reading has been shown to calm the brain before bed, but I think the "bringing the book and not reading" part stems from the fact that I view books as calming objects in and of themselves. Nostalgic, too: I have always loved to read in bed, and I am the worst bookworm.

I listen to my iPod and think up dance steps until I get sleepy.

I fantasize about how I would spend my multi million dollar lottery winnings if I ever won

How long it will take before my cover is blown.

Depends - if I am in a good frame of mind, I fall asleep.

If not I have an anxiety attack - usually about work. My job isn't brain surgery - I just have a hard time relaxing...

To turn off all the things I don't want to be thinking about (all the shit I have to get done the next day, etc.), I turn to one of my favorites in my encyclopedia of sexual fantasies. They are pretty tame but don't involve DH. Usually Matt Dillon (a favorite since high school) is there instead. Sometimes Jon Hamm.
