Grandmother throw's granddaughter off Tyson's walkway.

Oh my God! Can you imagine how the mother of this little girl is feeling? Every time a parent loses his/her baby is horrible, but in those circumstances is even worse to me.... your own family killed your baby - HORRID. Anyone know if this monster was paternal or maternal grandmother?

The way it's being reported on the news, it sounds like there are witnesses. They charged the grandmother with first degree murder.

This just makes me sick.

Innocent until proven guilty, remember? Or are YOU not a real American?

how could she possibly be innocent?

Because she has not been tried and convicted.

Is it possible that she picked up the baby to look over the edge and the baby just wiggled out and accidentaly fell?

She confessed. Also, other members of the family have all confirmed that this was an intentional act. Conflicting versions of why she did it: In one, she just went crazy. In the other, she was mad at the daughter's husband (the baby's father) and decided to punish him by doing this horrible thing.

Also, the child did not die right away, and was actually conscious for a bit after it happened. She told paramedics that "Grandma did this to me".

And yes, she is filipina. It always amazes me when people don't know the history of Spain and the Philippines and why so many filipinos have "hispanic" names!

It makes me sick to think anyone could actually do such a thing, but maybe she didn't. Maybe the child was crying and she went to pick the child up and had some very strange slip that made her fall toward the railing and drop the child - so that it would look like she threw the child. Maybe she is on medication that literally made her go insane. Or maybe she is a crazy monster - but I'm not ready to get the torches and pitchforks yet.

Ugh....the lady did it and is a monster. No excuses can be made. Have you been on those walkways? Its close to impossible to" slip" and have a baby just fly on the air six stories to the roadway/asphalt below. The monster did it on purpose....wonder if she is a legal citizen too? I am ready for the torch and pickforks and deportarion papers if it applies. Sick.

Right. She has darker toned skin, therefore she is Hispanic, therefore she is illegal. And of course, only illegal immigrants would do such a thing!

... really? What would her ethnicity have to do with anything? Why would assume she may not be a citizen? And what does that have to do with anything?

I hope this was just a tragic accident, but it seems as if it was intentional. The poor baby, and her parents.

How do you know all the above information (about the child saying "grandma did this, etc?)

All of the people even mentioning race and ethnicity are COMPLETELY missing the point... I really feel for this child's mother... She just lost a child so very tragically, and essentially she's lost a mother (I think?)... Plus she's dealing with the fact that someone she thought she could trust fully with her child has done the unthinkable.

THis is an unbelievable story. The Post has an article that makes it sound like the whole family (including the mom) were right there when it happened. And everyone says she was a "nice lady". I can only believe that she must be crazy. Why else would you do that?

YOU are sick.

No, actually you're a complete ignorant.

Just because of this woman's last name you're assuming she's an illegal immigrant? (because there's no such a thing as an illegal citizen, just FYI) What a stretch! Just plain stupid!

Who are you to say all this about some random thing you read on the paper? I just hope you're not part of the jury that will judge this woman.

And, if I'm not mistaken, if an immigrant commits a crime they're supposed to serve their sentence (if they're convicted) only then they're deported.

New poster here. Thanks for the lecture, twinkles.

News just said according to witnesses and video that the grandmother picked the child up and threw the child, it was not an accident.

At first I did not want to hear anything about this story, however, I now find myself interested in the details so that I can somehow assure myself that this can't happen to me. It is a nightmare and beyond tragic. I don't care if the grandmother is properly insane -- she should be thrown off the top of the Washington Monument.
