I'm confused -- How do you count your baby's age?

Ask your peditrician.

OP here -- roger... I stopped counting weeks at four and went to months. just trying to figure out months at this point so thank you.

Agreed. I had to finally open this thread to find out how in the world there could be 2 pages of replies to the subject question.

Weeks until 12 weeks. Then it's months until 24 months. After that it's years. Anything else makes you sound stupid.

Signed,

A 312 Month Old

DCUM has reached a new low.

Next question: how do I wipe my baby's butt, or my own, for that matter? Please, I've tried and I can't figure it out myself, so I am looking to DCUM for guidance.

The best way to arrive at the number of months from the number of weeks:

(32/52)*12=7.38 months

20:55 pp here. The 32 refers to the number of months per the OP, the 52 to the number of weeks in a year and the 12 to the number of months in the year. Your daughter is just over 7 months old.
Hope this helps.

How about ... if someone asks how old our baby is you simply tell them his/her birthday and let them do the math!

Have you asked your doctor?

Anonymous wrote:OP, don't listen to the meanie PP's! This question has plagued me my whole life. I was born in January 1975. Some might say that means I am 35, turning 36 in January. However, I have been alive for 1864 weeks. Now, if you divide 1864 by 4, that makes me 466 months. Divide that by 12 and I am 38, almost 39 years old. This is difficult because I want to have another baby and I don't feel quite ready yet, but I know the odds of bad things happening go up at 40. Also, I want my husband to throw me a big 40th birthday party and he says we should wait 4 years but that seems unfair. Don't even get me started on the issue I had getting my driver's license. The DMV apparently also counts that way PP's do!

I love you. Thank you for making my evening. I also enjoyed the people that misunderestimated your comment.

thank you.... so should I continue to consider her seven months? I am trying to plan for the holidays where I can give family members age appropriate ideas for gifts / clothes / shoes, blah, blah, blah... this is flumoxing me to an extent and I am really just trying to figure out what to tell extended family her age.

Just tell them the truth: you are unable to work out how old she is.

Instead, you can offer two pieces of information to help them out:

1. date when babby was born.

2. approximately how big she is, e.g. size of a large chicken, small turkey, etc.

But wouldn't she have to know how old the chicken or turkey was? That may be problematic ...

Well, it certainly helps make the case for people growing their own food.
