| Forest Glen area of Silver Spring is extremely friendly. |
| For friendly and affordable, I think you have to go to Philadelphia. |
Personally, I don't like Filthadelphia. The townie mentality gets old quickly. |
Yup. The friendly people are still there, and I guess the pedants are plodding abut DC. |
I live on the Hill and I agree that people tend to be friendly, but there is often a wierd tension between the haves and have-nots that makes me uncomfortable. My neighbors are great but the teenagers who deal crack on my corner are not that friendly. |
| Somerset in Chevy Chase. It is basically Mayberry. People are out of control nice and the pool is a natural place where all the parents ith little kids meet. |
Same here! Are you my neighbor? |
Don't forget BWI.

| In Virginia, they will say hello and bring you flowers and a cake if you're blond and have blue eyes. |
Eh, that happens everywhere--benefits for mutant gene carriers. |
| I'm neither blonde nor blue-eyed, but when we moved into our house in Cleveland Park, our neighbors brought us flowers, fruit, bread, and wine. |
| We are mixed race (Asian and white), and when we moved to Chevy Chase, DC, neighbors brought us cake, cookies, drinks, and tea towels! |
| I got more smiles and hello's in Reston, VA. Not flowers, not wine, not cake unless we payed for them. |
It is very frustrating to read statements like this!!!! I live in the Falls Church area of FFX County. It's very diverse. It may not be strictly AA/white diverse if that's what this poster (who clearly feels smug about where s/he lives), but it's very diverse. We have people from all over the place, who speak all kinds of languages all around us. There are skin colors that span the range. My child's elementary school is less that 50% caucasian. I happen to like the diversity of the area, so I find it shocking to hear that in my entire state you have to have blond hair and blue eyes to be liked by the neighbors. I guess I missed something all these years I've lived here. |
| If diversity means 1am screaming matches and being harassed for money (and yes, my duplex neighbors in South Arlington did just that), no thanks. |
