Best way to get grades changed?

I have emailed the teacher for my 5th grade son when they added up the points wrong and when they subtracted points for grammar and spelling errors (when they shouldn’t bc they are in non-ELA subjects and he has an accommodation for dysgraphia).

f your kid is too lazy or not ambitious enough to advocate for a grade bump then perhaps he doesn't deserve the bump.

Good one, OP. lol

Everyone wants a little fraud for me and not for thee. The sad part is when kids and parents bich and moan great teachers lose their jobs after years of butting up with the crime and disrespect. We are used and the disregarded. It's a great lesson for kids considering education careers.

OP, we had to intervene last semester for our daughter with her AP Calc grade. She had a B+ for the semester and needed just 2/10 of a point to make it an A-. Daughter asked teacher who refused the option of doing some extra work for the bump. Daughter was deferred to her dream school and felt the B+ would hurt her chances. College counselor was unsuccessful at convincing teacher to help DD. Got the HOS involved, who was able to get the job done. Teacher is just an awful witch and we are glad to be done with her. Bottom line, have your kid try first and then if all fails, get involved.

So the grade was totally accurate but you wanted the teacher to make up some extra BS work after the semester is already over? I side with the teacher here.

Go ahead, but I stand by my opinion of the teacher being an awful witch. The administration agreed she is awful and if it weren't for the fact that math teachers at that level are hard to find, she would be fired. Lots and lots of complaints about this "teacher" who never once taught the class.

Which school allows this sort of disrespect for their teachers? Shame on the HOS.

What will your DD do when she doesn’t like the grades she earns in college?

So your school isn’t capable of attracting good teachers? This school gets better and better.

To be clear, the approach to changing was to take points from next semester. Either way, she deserved the grade and I will say again the teacher is a witch.

So your admin not only goes behind teacher’s backs to change grades, but also belittles those teachers to the parents? Name the school so we can avoid.

How could she have deserved the grade? You say you wanted her to be able to do extra work to earn the grade. So she hadn’t earned the grade. You just wanted special treatment. The teacher was right.

Your daughter had all semester to earn that 2/10 of a point and she didn’t. I assume she had all of the same opportunities to earn scores on all of the same assignments that the other students had. Where does this end? If the HOS asked me to change a grade I would resign. This would never happen where I teach. I know this because parents unsuccessfully try to do this all of the time. The teacher is not a “witch” because she has the same standards for all students and assigns them the grades they earn.

Respectfully, your daughter didn't earn the grade, and received what she earned. Stepping in didn't teach her about the realities of life, such as making and owning mistakes (there clearly were some if she didn't get a perfect grade) and outcomes. No school will deny a candidate because of one B+. That's life.
