We're in MoCo, where we had one very major scandal (a Principal was sexually harassing his own staff and central office tried to sweep it under the rug for years), and the Board of Ed got involved.

Employees have backgrounds checks as well. This doesn’t prevent future crimes. I’m sure it reduces odds but doesn’t eliminate them.

Of course not. We are devastated by this and I applaud the student who had the courage to report a teacher who was very popular, but y’all are implying that somehow the school, despite background checks, should have intuitively known this guy was a predator. It happens all across the country, in schools — it happened in my low-rent, super-poor middle school in the 1980s, it happened in my low-rent high school, and it happens at rich boarding schools. It’s not just a Langley thing, nor is it a rich school thing — but y’all want to make it seem that way.
