If you carry a luxury handbag what is your net worth?

One Fendi, one Chanel, 2 Celine, 1 Hermes (Evelyne), 1 Gucci, 1 YSL, 1 Ferragamo, 1 Dior - I carry one of these every day and they make me happy. $8M

Nw probably $15m (mostly me, for the poster asking). In the last few years I have purchased a few YSL bags, a Gucci and one givinchy. I’m not a bag person and never bought them as a younger person but have been doing a bit of a fashion glow up in recent years as my career has hit new heights, and having a few nice bags seemed part of it. I’ve always been into fashion, but at 50 I’m finding that nicer brands make a much bigger difference in how I look, including bags.

Oh and like another poster, I use these as my everyday bags and don’t care if they get beat up (they do). The cost is peanuts to me if/when I replace.

When I was 20s with net worth about10k I went to Paris and bought. 3 LV bags. I loved brand names at that time.

Now in mid 40s networth 6mil, I am not interested in buying them. If I like the design, I may buy the knock off.

Personally, I think the more self esteem I have or the more content I am, the less I see value in these luxury bags. They are heavy. Some of them such as Chanal lamb skin, are not durable. If you have a light color bags with dark jeans, you can have color transfer and it look cheap. They are just over priced goods that I bought to fullfilled my feeling of lacking or poor self esteem.

I have LV Speedy that I only use when I travel? Does that count as a "luxury handbag"? I guess our NW is around 3M? Maybe a bit more? Lower edge of UMC I guess?

The bag I carry most days is one of those belt bag things; I bought it at Anthropologie years ago. It's looking pretty tired, but it's perfect. I just really need a cross body to feel comfortable, and this thing has the perfect pocket for my phone in front. I sometimes carry a STAUD bag that has my dog on it; I love that thing, but it is a shoulder bag, and like I said, I prefer a cross body.

Coach knows how to make a good cross body, for sure.

You realize that is part of it, though, right?

$3M. I have an older Loewe puzzle bag because I really like the design and the build quality. Everything else I carry is in the $150 range or lower.

I use mine and don’t really worry about keeping them in good shape. I’ve sold several and you’d be surprised what people will pay for secondhand bags that have their best days well behind them.

Sure you do. Otherwise, you’d know how to spell Chanel and Loewe.

I think you’ll find that those who buy these name brand bags tend to be new money or have lower net worth.
