I guess the MISA scores are just late?

Kid is on the edge of 2 grades and MISA probably ends up being deciding factor given its heavy weighting.

There is no "before" percentage. There's a secret grading algorithm that spits out a number on the 850 scale and that gets converted to the 100 scale

Just as a follow up -- my kid took this test on May 4, and as of June 16, we have not received the score. The teacher has had it since at least last week because he told the kids he had the scores, but for some reason he hasn't actually given the kids the scores.

My kid has a pretty high A so I don't think it will affect their grade, but I think this is just rude to families and probably creating additional stress for some kids unnecessarily. Good news or bad news -- neither improves with age.

My kid’s teacher also said she had the scores last week but wasn’t allowed to give them out because they might still change. She did tell the class what the lowest score was of her students (a high B) so that people wouldn’t worry about how it would affect their grades.

Good to know, but wow, makes no sense. Why are they still subject to change? What in the MCPS???

Just saw my kid’s MISA score in ParentVue under Test History. It shows the raw score and level, but not a percentile. I don’t see it figuring into overall grade yet.

OK, I see them now. They're labeled as "MCAP."

What grade is that for?

I see it for my 10th grader, along with all their previous middle school mcap scores. I don’t yet see the 10th grade English mcap, though.

So how does a score of 769 factor into my kid’s semester grade?

This document looks kind of old, maybe two or three years?:
https://www.montgomeryschoolsmd.org/siteassets/district/curriculum/eoc/mcps_eoc_studentflyerwfaqs.pdf

But it shows the conversion table on page 3 of the file.

So based on this document (again the score ranges might've changed), your kid's 769 MISA score converts to about 90-100 percent or an A. MCPS would use to count as 20 percent of the student's final grade.

I forget if final grades are based off of semester grades or quarter grades. But I think it would like Semester 1 grade is worth 40 percent, Semester 2 40 percent, and then MISA percentage/grade 20 percent. Or it might MP3+MP4+MISA score. I'm not 100 percent sure but think of it as how final exams used to(?) be calculated towards the final grade.

This document says it's MP3 (40 pct)+MP4 (40 pct) +MISA score conversion (20 pct) that makes up the final second semester grade:

Who told you this? Sucks that anything I know is from this thread!
